Honeymoon budget info needed?

Because we are paying for our wedding by are selfs we are only going to Disney for seven nights. We are stying at the All Stars if we eat two meals a day and a snack would 70.00 a day for 2 be enough for food. We will probably eat one counter and one regualr meal a day. Thanks for any tips we are bringing 1200.00 for 7 nights 500.00 for food 100.00 for transportation and teh rest for souviners. Thanks Kelly

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR HONEYMOON TRIP TO DISNEY!!! DH and I spent our honeymoon in Disney back in 98. It was 7 years after we had gotten married, but better late than never right? We celebrated our 10 year anniversary back in 2001 so let me see if I can help you based on that experience. $70 a day for two meals could be enough. Here's what DH and I ate one day while we were there. One day we did Hollywood and Vine at MGM for breakfast spend about $36.00. We snacked at Starring Rolls Bakery before leaving the park at 1pm spending about $14 there. We returned to MGM and had dinner at Hollywood Brown Derby spending about $70.00! So we spent $120 that particular day for 2 good meals and a snack. On the low end however, we had breakfast at the Intermission Food Court at ASMu one day for about $12 and lunch at FoodQuest in DisneyQuest for about $14 and dinner again at the resort for about $15, so we spent $41 that particular day. I think if you guys maybe split your meals at the sit down restaurants you can save a lot of money that way and you'll have plenty to eat. DH and I never left a Disney restaurant hungry.
Consider doing breakfast at the Allstar Resort and having a late lunch in one of the restaurants in the park or at the resorts. I'm going to leave you a link to a wonderful site with menus that I checked over thoroughly before picking the places hubby and I would dine while at Disney. I will also leave you a list of restaurants of where DH and I dined while on our trip and then you can go to the menus and scope out the prices. I would bump your number to maybe $100 a day for the two of you and keep that on the high end. I'm sure that will do you just fine and who knows, you may do just fine at $70 after looking at the menu link I'm going to leave you.

regarding food at WDW, we had only two meals per day during our honeymoon. We would stuff ourselves to the fullest with breakfast buffet in the morning and then have dinner around 5 or 6. Also, make sure you swing by grocery store on the way to Disney. Food and water at local stores are much cheaper than ones in WDW.

I honestly think your $70 a day figure is a little low if you want a counter service and a sit down. Two counter services would be more than covered, but sit downs at WDW can be pricey. I would cut back on the $600 you budgeted for souvenirs and pad the food budget a bit. Anything you have not used at the end of your trip can be then used to buy more souvenirs if you wanted to! I would personally rather leave with the memories of having nice meals then another hat that won't be worn once you leave the world. I hope your honeymoon is as magical as can be!!!!!

You may want to consider bringing your own breakfast items - breakfast bars, donuts, etc. Its cheaper and saves so much time getting ready in the morning. My family doesn't do breakfast first thing - we usually bring our "breakfast" with us to the park and eat when we get hungry.

I would also suggest you go to Deb Wills site and price out the different restaurants. Its possible to do on $70/day. Some days you may go over, and then some days you may be under.

It all depends on what kind of sitdowns you want to eat at, whether or not you'll share meals, what type of food u order and what meal you go for. We like to have breakfast either in the room or at the food court then a snack around noon and a late lunch around 3ish. Then we are full until about 9 and we just have a snack then too. We also share our meals since most are so HUGE! And we dont eat a nice nice places like V & A. Most places for dinner entrees run between 15and 30 dollars then drinks, desserts or appetizers and a tip can get pretty costly! You could easily spend at least $50 on one meal! In fact we spent $60 on a meal at Alfredo's in EPCOT and only had one glass of wine each, plus two entrees! But, $70 a day can be done if you pick and choose, eat in the room, then have lunch and split the meal and do quick service for dinner. If not maybe some of that $600 for souvenirs can be used for food!

If I were you I might up your food budget a bit or just make sure to blance cheap with not cheap. My family only eats one meal a day in resturants when at Disney. I budget $50 per day for the 4 of us for that one meal. Some days we hit a place that is $70, but the next day we might hit a place that is $30 for the 4 of us. We normally do both lunch and dinner in our room, but that is us with two small kids...if I was on my honeymoon at Disney I would still have breakfast in the room but have both lunch and dinner out and budget $85 or $90 per day.

You may also want to consider having lunch for your "sit down" meals. Lunch prices are usually cheaper than dinner prices (not a whole lot but every little bit counts when you are budgeting).

Check out the menus at www.wdwig.com and compare prices for lunch and dinner. Most of the sitdowns at WDW give large portions that two people could generally split. Or, order one entree and two salads or appetizers instead. There's lots of ways! Plus, unless you are going to have a refrigerator and a microwave in your room you can't really take leftovers back to the room!

We paid for our wedding ourselves too and decided to have a "less nice" wedding and a "wonderful" honeymoon instead!! We didn't skimp on our HM at all! Well, we stayed 7 nights at POFQ and ate all kinds of great places! Yes, we spent a small fortune on food that week but it was so worth it! We had a great HM! I hope you guys have a FANTASTIC one!
