...It makes you over-tired, over-worked, and over-grumpy.
It enduces procrastination, frustration, and deviation.
All in all, homework is awful and I hate it and I wish we NEVER HAD TO DO IT!!!

Yes people...this is what reading 64 (or get halfway through that) pages of "The Worldly Philosophers" by Robert L. Heilbroner at 12:15AM will do to you...

So, discuss, share hw hatred, make parodies about it...do what you like! Anything to procrastinate on hw...HAH.

I really agree with you...and not only because I don't enjoy it. I honestly thinks that it hurts. People who are going to do well will study it to get it down and people who won't study usually don't do the homework anyway. Also, I think that it turns students off of the classes making the whole learning process a pain in the **** that nobody wants to bother with. Just my 2 cents.

I'm not totally against homework because 1. homework helps me understand the concept of what I'm currently learning, but then again I just completed an all nighter trying to get all of my homework done, and boy am I tired right now.

I believe that if a teacher is correctly doing their job they can teach all of the material needed in class and not have it carry over to out of class work.

And I plan to be a teacher, and I will live by that philosophy.

I hate homework. My homework is never completed to a high standard like the work I do in school because I rush it so it is done and out of the way

I don't usually have a problem with homework... unless it's something that's due in a week, two weeks, etc. Then I procrastinate until the day before it's due. :p But I usually finish all my homework during study hall or during health. :p

lucky me i dont have much hw but next year ill be in 9th im gussing im gona have to say by by fun hello 3:30 in the moanring doing hw

Homework? I hate homework.

You have to go to school for averaged 6 hours a day and averaged 16 years of your life. Then, after school most people go on to work until they can no longer do their job or until retirement.

Last year I had homework that would take me from the moment I got home until close to midnight. In those hours I only had time for dinner. I never had time to be me. I couldn't call up my friends, read, write, play piano or anything of the things I like to do. I had to sit there and work still.

I agree with what Sparx said and I have always thought that same thing. I, too, plan to work as a teacher and I am going to try my hardest to refrain from giving out homework.

Then it got funny last year because when I finally had time off to write, I wrote a poem on homework and how it really prevents you from living. Heh, I used it in my English portfolio.

I learn everything I need to know in class...homework does absolutely nothing for me...only teaches me the many different ways on how to procrastinate lol.

All my best and most successful classes (as far as achievement goes) have been the classes that didn't give much homework at all. The teachers taught us IN the classroom not outside of it.

I agree with Sparx.

The only class I ever to seem to have homework in is math. We usually have three or four things to. It's ridiculous. There will never be a day that we don't have homework in math because we have mental math every night but Thursday, which is the night she decides to pile math problems on us.

i'm glad so far we've harddly got any H/W this year but i'm sure they're gonna pile it on us when the coursework comes

i'm one of those procrastinaters since i stayed up until 11:45 last night doing H/W (which i didn't start until 10:00) then got woken up by next door's baby crying at 6:30 so i'm tired i think i might go back to sleep goodnight...

The school I go to doesn't believe in hw. I know it sounds crazy...."a school without homework? It's impossible!" That is how our school runs, though, most of the time. When we do get hw though it sucks. Do three readings, write 2 papers, a sheet of trig work and so on. I do it of course, but not becuase I love it.

Actually I have never found anyone who likes homework. Let me know if any of y'all have. ;)

Also, what I hate is when you hand your homework in and teachers say 'Is that all?'

Um yeah I spent like 6 hours on that piece of work!!!

Add 4 hour Field Hockey Practices & Games and Now You Know How I Feel.LOL

Homework is good for people. It lets people take more time to learn things. Not everyone can learn everything in 50 minutes and its also foolish to think the teacher can help everyone in the 50 minutes. I dont think homework should count for grades but it is very important for kids to learn. Teachers usually dont grade the notes you take in class and it should be the same with homework. If you honestly think that teaching without giving any homework to students is better than you will have alot of kids failing your class unless you make things extremely easy. Many students need to do the work in order to fully understand things, wheather its reading for history or doing math problems, people wont understand and know everything if they only talk about it for 50 minutes a day.

Some classes I understand the point of homework. Like, in math, it helps to reinforce it. But I have teachers who decide that they don't want to teach us, so they give us textbook reading and questions to do on stuff we haven't gone over. The most ridiculous part of it, is more than half of my classes are like that.

Ironically, the only reason I'm on here is because I'm supposed to be doing my science powerpoint presentation and don't feel like doing it.

Just wait until you start your senior thesis...That's what I am doing now..and It is NOT FUN

The purpose of homework is to prepare you for college where professors don't have the class time that is available to teachers in high school and therefore only pick out the most important things to discuss but test you on everything you have been assigned to read. Therefore by starting the homework trend early, students are better prepared for college where homework is the basis of their learning.
