Hey all! Just looking for reviews on this hotel. It looks further from Disney than I would like, but I do love the price and the ability to get a family suite with a kitchen. We would have to take a shuttle to Disney. Thoughts?

There are two Homewood Suites in the area. Are you talking about the one by the convention center or the one further down Harbor? We stayed at the one by the convention center in January and found it very convenient to walk to the Toy Story Lot and jump on the shuttle there. We had a bunk bed suite room and it was perfect for our needs.

We really like the Homewood Suites-Convention Center. We haven't stayed at the other. The Homewood Suites-Convention Center is a fairly new hotel, and super close the the Toy Story Shuttles. You can walk over to the shuttles in about 5 minutes and avoid paying for parking. The pool area is nice, and they project Disney movies there at night. The breakfast is decent, similar to every Homewood Suites. The bunk bed room is our favorite layout.

I agree with the two comments above. We've stayed at the one at the convention center and really liked it. I thought the Toy Story shuttle was very convenient and the total walking distance (when riding the shuttle) isn't that much.

Thanks for your replies. So you can walk to the toy story parking lot and take the Disney shuttle. That sounds great. Does anyone know how often the shuttle runs?

HomeWood convention is great. But the walk was really annoying to me. The breakfast made up for it. It's equally fast to walk there or ride there. We find we tend to walk there and bus home.

Hos long did it take you to walk? We are planning to use the Disney shuttle from toy story parking lot

Valentina they have a different menu each night, the menu is stuck on your fridge in your suite. There's always soups and salads but then there's other things like sliders or pasta. They're just light meals, but that's fine by me! Oh and they also have free wine and beer I believe.

We stayed there and honestly I loved it. Walking to the Toy Story Lot was such a breeze.

I am a BIG fan of Hojo's, but the shorter walk to the bus, sitting down and then being dropped off at the Harbor gate was better to me.

The breakfast area is huge. Now we were there during some of the lighter days. (Do those even exist anymore?)
Yes, we went the Tuesday through Friday the week AFTER Thanksgiving - it was very nice!

Avoid the Homewood Suites further down Harbor (next to the Marriott Suites and across from Target). It was disgusting, run down, and definitely not up to Homewood standards. Thankfully we were only there one night (and checked in after 10 PM at that). But I would never go back to that one!

We just returned and stayed at the Homewood Suites Convention Center. The hotel was sold out but the staff did an amazing job keeping up with the breakfast. I'm Diamond level with Hilton properties so I see my fair share of hotels, and this breakfast was a step up from the normal "hot" breakfasts. The layout and food offerings were great. There was never a backup at a certain area that you tend to see at most hotel breakfasts. 4 waffle makers, 4 hot food stations, 6 types of cereal.

Much to my surprise the "Light dinners" Monday -Thursday evenings were enough to feed my boys and husband. It was actually good quality food and plenty of it. Wine and beer are also complementary. The first night was a barbeque, they grilled hotdogs and hamburgers on the grills by the pool including all the fixings. Plus, potato salad, salad bar, soup. Second night was pasta, they had baked ziti or penne with sauce and cheese, a plain buttered pasta with sauce on the side, TONs of garlic bread, Caesar salad, salad bar and minestrone soup. The last night they had fried/baked chicken sliders, macaroni salad, macaroni and cheese, veggies with hummus, potato salad, salad bar, chicken noodle and vegetable soup. They have a juice station that includes a cold latte, orange, cranberry, lemonade and tea. No soft drinks.

The walk to the Toy Story lot is very easy. The buses run continually and usually door to Esplanade was 15 minutes. My teenage son walked a few times to see if he could beat us, most times he did but he is very fit and honestly was probably running to "win" (ha). The ride back on the Toy Story bus in the middle of the day was no wait, the ride back at 10pm or later, sometimes a 5 minute wait, but they were always loading continuously.

Rooms are nice and still seem new. The bunk bed layout is wonderful, we liked having a king bed, the younger DS in the bunkbed area and the teenage DS on the foldout sofa in the living room area. Having a full kitchen is nice, although we only used the fridge.
