Just wanted to let you all know! It's almost over now..I just caught it, but it comes on again on July 13th at 3:00pm.

It's about a mother who is considering homeschooling her 5 year old.

Cool! Thanks for the info. I will try to watch it in July.

Word of warning..one part of it kind of irritated me!

There was this one part where they were coming down on the mom for being so defensive, but honestly I think I would have been too!

It wasn't what they were saying, but the way they were saying it. Combined of course with "the look"...you know the one! :teeth:

Then they had an expert come on and say that if the mom was confident in her choice that she wouldn't be defensive and emotional about it.

Come on!

Anytime somebody comes down on me about something near and dear to my heart..be it my marriage..my parenting..homeschooling....or going to disney so many times...I tend to get defensive!

Especially if you're SOOO used to feeling like you're being attacked!

Well, we no longer have reception on the tv (videos only) so I guess I will miss it. Darn! Now you see, with good reporting they should have had someone on the other side giving the mom some support! I was a nervous wreck when we pulled our kids out to hs, it is a HUGE decision!

They did actually. One of the other moms said that she talked to her alone and told her she should go for it, and that she shouldn't let the others get to her. They also showed her meeting with another homeschooling mom

Like I said none of them were really mean, it was just the way they went about it made me cringe!

One of the moms even said that the only thing she ever thought about when someone mentioned a kid being homeschooled was being locked up away from the world, and that they were weird.

hmmm..never heard that one before! ;)

The "expert" didn't really seem for or against. She pointed out that there were good and bad points to both.
