Homeschoolers - What Curriculum(s) do you use and why?

All 3 girls are avid readers, so I thought we'd try a literature-based approach. We are embarking on our first year of home school.

History:
7th grader - Beautiful Feet Books - Geography through Literature
4th grader - Beautiful Feet Books - California History
2nd grader - Beautiful Feet Books - Early American History Primary

Science:
7th grader - Beautiful Feet Books - History of Science
2nd & 4th graders - Apologia - Botany

Language Arts/English:
Learning Language Arts Through Literature - for all 3 girls at their various grade levels (supplementing 2nd grader w/ some extra phonics)

Math:
7th grader - Saxon Algebra 1/2 (pre-algebra)
4th grader - Saxon Math 54
2nd grader - Bob Jones University Press Math - 2nd grade level

We use Sonlight (including science and LA), and Singapore Math for a soon to be 1st. grader, 4th grader, and 6th grader. The great part about Sonlight is that you can use a level for more than one child at a time, and most of it is reusable for younger children.

I use Abeka because that is what she had in private school. It was just easier to stick with the same curriculum.

I'm a public school special education teacher, but I use Math U See in my classroom. I've seen so much growth in my students in math; I've even had parents comment on it. You can find your rep online and order it from them. I highly recommend it.

Thanks for bringing up Beautiful Feet. I checked out the web site and their programs seem absolutely wonderful! I'm really excited, esp. about History of Music.

I definitely want to do the History of Music, too. Maybe next year for us.
