We get most of our recipes from this book called “The Ultimate Ice Cream Book”. There’s also a companion book called the “ultimate frozen dessert book”
We’ve also found some recipes online.
My son likes making ice cream. It’s best if you have a commercial grade ice cream maker which has a built in compressor. Consumer grade ice cream machines don’t work that well.

I have a Cruisinart ice cream maker that I use quite often. The vanilla recipe I use calls for 3/4 cup of sugar, pinch of salt, 2 cups half & half, 1 cup heavy cream, and vanilla. Sometimes I add chocolate syrup or squeeze strawberry jam in to it towards the end. I also add cut up Kit Kat bars, chocolate chips, mini M&M’s. I use a little green food coloring along with peppermint extract and add chocolate chips too. Everybody loves this ice cream. We often have a sundae bar on special occasions.
