Homemade Holiday Presents! Lets help each other! Ideas WANTED!

You are so welcom!
I bet you could even get a yeast roll box mix and add some sugarmaybe a drop of vanilla or almond flavoring. And then do the topping and filler....
It would sure be easier! And if you got a coupon, cheaper, and much faster!

Wanted To Share What I Think Is An

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

inexpensive and useful Christmas gift.

I needed something to give to the girls in the office. It's a cookie scoop (bottom flexible so that you can "punch" out the cookie dough) that I purchased at Bed, Bath & Beyond for under $4. I bought card stock at Michaels and some snowflake stamps with gold ink pad. I bought some ribbon and put it all together with a nice note at the bottom of the card. I think they came out cute if I do say so myself.

Precious! I love them!

I love everyones ideas!

Also with the movie gift.... last year I went to walmart and bought a roll of tickets (like raffel tickets) and slowly worked the middle downward and it made a bowl. I then took 1 part glue to 1 part water and brushed the glue on the tickets (which you cant see once it dries) and it made the bowl stay firm. I put popcorn, popcorn flavoring (found at Target), Blockbuster gift certificates, comfy socks, candies, etc. Makes a great gift.

The tickets make it extra cute though! They are like $5 at Walmart. I wish I had a photo!

Cassi- Did you ever share your photos?

Anyone have anymore photos? Im a visual person --lol!

At the $1 spot at Target today they had the popcorn paper bags only they are plastic. I thought I could go to the candy gourmet candy section they sell by the lb at my favorite local store. Put the candy in cellophane bags and put them in the popcorn bag. It is kind of narrow so far that is my only idea.

So, I have 2 bachelor brothers that I need gifts for and came up with a great gift basket for them. I got these really nice, large, clear glass beer mugs at the dollar store. Then I'm going to frost their initials on the mugs. So, they each are getting poker/gaming gift baskets. Along with the frosted mugs, I'm getting playing cards, poker chips, dice, snacks.

I'm hoping to find some Nascar and Philadelphia Eagles playing cards. Does anyone know where I can look to find these? Also, anybody have any other ideas of things to put in their baskets?

I will post pictures as soon as I do the mugs.

I just got poker chips at TRU for $1.48 clearanced! They are in a tin container that is about 8.5 x 5.5

Since my parents live 500 miles away, I amke them a scrapbook every year.

Some gifts that we have made are:

Relax Baskets... Tin of homemade bathsalts, homemade soap, loofah and a homemade candle. (Total each basket around $10)... these are great for teachers!

Dry ingredient soups/chilis in a decorated canning jar with a loaf of homemade bread.

Sweets basket (filled with homemade cookies, candy, and cake)

Snowman Soup

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My grandkids will be making snowman soup to give to their teachers and bus drivers.

You can purchase Christmas mugs and cellophane bags at the Dollar Store. Gift bags can also be purchased at the Dollar Store.

We make our own Hot chocolate mix. (You can google a recipe)

To make it easier on younger children you could just buy a large box of your favorite hot chocolate mix and use the individual pouches.

Purchase a bag of mini marshmallow's as well as candy canes.

If you like, you can Chocolate dip plastic spoons, sprinkle with crushed candy canes or christmas sprinkles. The chocolate melts can be purchased at Michael's or Hobby Lobby. (melt according to package directions)

Make the hot chocolate recipe, place mix and marshmallows in separate zip-loc bags and then in a seasonal cellophane bag. Include a couple of candy canes and/or chocolate dipped spoons.

We made instruction tags from card stock and attached a little poem.

Snowman's Soup

I was told you've been real good this year
Always glad to hear it
With freezing weather drawing near
You'll need to warm the spirit
So hear's a little snowman soup
Complete with stirring stick
Add hot water, sip it slow
It's sure to do the trick!

www.allfreecrafts.com has some great craft ideas.

For everyone who make the bath salts, what purpose does the baking soda serve? Curious as I wanted to modify some of the recipes out there by putting some bubbling powder in the mix and not sure if I still need the BS:confused3

That's a really cute idea I'm going to borrow! Thanks!

On buy.com right now they are offering $10 off a purchase of $10 or more when you set up a new google to go account (you just have to fill out a form). They also have a lot of costume items with free shipping for Halloween.

Anyway, I set up 2 accounts using mine and DBF's email and made two different purchases. For $6 I got a Tinkerbell tiara, Cinderella dress up shoes, a Jasmine tiara and an Aurora wand.

I'm going to make a dress up kit for my 5 year old cousin. Our family does names from a hat and I got her, I'm excited because little girls are so fun to shop for.

I'm going to go the day after Halloween for sales and get maybe a pair of fairy wings, a tutu and some beads and put it all in a box. I'll make a cute dress up box for it, probably paint a cardboard box in pink and stencil her name on it. All together, I'm thinking it won't be more than $15 and so cute!

Sorry this was long, I was excited about my idea.

I don't have an answer for you, but a question. What is bubbling powder?

Check on ebay as well! I purchased 10 pounds of "junk" jewelry for my DD's dress up trunk for around $10 awhile back and it was full of clip on earrings, fake pearls, stick pins, etc. It was a great addition to her trunk! Also the $1 store sometimes has cute (not too junky) accessories for little girls.

It's a Happy Day- thanks! I'll look into the jewelry, I bet I could find some cheap deals at the $ store.

I found this idea. I know we've all seen the chocolate stirrers for coffee, here's an idea for the same thing but for tea drinkers:

CANDIED TEA STIRRERS

* Vegetable cooking spray
* 34 pieces fruit flavored hard candy--crushed--lemon, cinnamon etc.
* 2 TBS. light corn syrup
* heavy weight plastic spoons

Line a cookie sheet with waxed paper. Spray with cooking spray. In a small heavy saucepan combine crushed candies and corn syrup and melt over low eat stirring frequently.

Spoon candy into bowl of each spoon. Place spoons on prepared cookie sheet with handles on rims and spoons level. Allow to harden. Store in air tight container.

Very cool idea! You could gift these with mugs and tea bags!

Pixieshouse

The actual term for the bubbling powder is Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate. It is a powder often referred to as Bubble Magic...I guess it is just a powdered bubble bath.....unscented. You can buy it cheap and you use very little to get lots of bubbles with your bath salts.

Thank you! Now where do I buy this :)
