Homemade Christmas Gift Ideas for 2012

I will be making a set of personalized note cards for the ladies in the family, a couple of friends and of course DS's teacher. I have a lot of stamping supplies, decorative paper and cardstock, including a letter set stamp set.

I know this sounds weird, but my Dad will be getting a large mason jar each of pickled eggs and pickled onions! He loves them!

My stepdad always gets a large container of my homemade caramel corn.

Brother is getting a pair of flannel pyjama pants made of the craziest flannel I can find! I will let my DS help with the fabric choice. Brother is single and in his 40's....there's a funny story behind this!

These all sound like great ideas. I'm thinking of using your flannel pyjama pants idea for DH. Something in hot peppers would be perfect! :)

Loving the ideas! I think I'll add some coasters and notecards to the canned food / bread baskets I make. I might get brave and try the rice heating pads, but my sewing skills (yes, even a straight line) are totally lacking. lol

Disappointed in Hobby Lobby today- no pom pom yarn. They had some other cool stuff that was tough not to buy- but I was there for just the yarn. Saw another good tween/teen gift idea. An ornate frame- paint if you don't like the color it is. Cork board- put the frame around the cork board and make some decorative push pins.

For my DD I am going to zebra cloth cover the board too I think.

thanks for sharing the link to the scarves. I found a couple of new ones to try. Maybe I will be making a trio of scarves for the girls on my list now.

I've made the bath salts before. It's quite easy, using epsom salts bought at Costco. I put them in used applesauce jars, well washed, with fabric circles and ribbon glued to the lid. Everyone loved them.

I will be sewing alot of different things.

Here is the list kinda sorta..

Several pairs of lounge pants, with Mickey themes of course. Me, DH, 1 DD and future SIL, MY parents, and 2 grandsons.
Body pillow case for my mom made out of Elvis material, she loves her Elvis.
Baby blankets, quilts, burp pads, and baby bags with the tie bottoms for my niece that is due new years eve. Some will be for the baby's christmas and some for her shower.
Some scarves for MOm, 2 DD's, 2 Niece's, and SIL & me
For BFF, she is in the middle of building a house, so probably, table runnner, place mat's, napkins, to match her new decor`.
2 DD's - 1 is getting married, so maybe some curtains for new apt, table runner, napkins, placemats,.1 DD, Maybe some pillows covers, and table runner, napkins, placemats.

Wow - I better get busy sewing:rotfl2:

I made a pom pom scarf tonight! It turned out so cute and it only took about an hour! I am definately making some as Christmas gifts gifts!:santa:

I just have to laugh! After I bought some pom-pom yarn and also posted the link to the knotted scarfs, my dd came home from a Peru vacation with Alpaca scarfs for everyone!! She is excited about giving them at Christmas, so I guess I will wait for another Christmas before I make scarfs for anyone.
Now have to find another idea!!!

I think I might do some canning for gifts this year - either jams or jellies, or some kind of fancy mustard.

I made a few of these the other night using leftover scrapbooking paper. The tiles are 16 cents at Home Depot and Mod Podge is about $8.69 for a large jar. They came out great! I am also going to make a set using Disney park maps. :)

Did you print yours out in color on the white tissue paper or black and white copy of your scrapbooking paper? I see the ones in the link are black and white photos. Just wondering if anyone has done them in color and do they look as nice? Thanks for the wonderful ideas!!

Carol

Thanks for the scarf links! These are all great, I cannot wait to try some!

Anyone have a link to crochet the pom pom scarf?
Thanks!

$1 frames from dollar stores and Quart of chalkboard paint equals 50 gifts! Simply pop out glass and give it 2 coats chalkboard paint ( no primer needed). Dary, season with chalk. Taping chalk on back. Am adding crocheted flowers, beads and other embellishments to some of the frames. No need to wrap, just write on the board! Great for lists, menus, inspiring words, etc.
I chose all solid white or black frames. Look great. These are old news in crafting world but will be new to my gift recipients. Love at they work for all ages and genders

I just saw these on pinterest, thinking about making them for Christmas thus year. It will be an easy and cheap gift to give to family that we don't exchange with ( we normally do grab bag because there are too many of us ). Glad to see someone made them recently and they were successful.
