Any ideas for a bridal shower gift that my 4th grade DS could make for his teacher? The class parents are organizing a surprise shower for her and have asked the kids to each make a simple gift...and I'm drawing a complete blank on this!

TIA for any help or suggestions! All I'm getting when I do a google search is candles

How about one of those No sew fleece blankets, or pillows.
Just google for directions.

How about a Christmas ornament?

Even though I was married in summer, I received a couple Christmas ornaments (1st Christmas type things), and I thought they were lovely small gifts.

I have a pot holder that a student used a loom and wove for me that I use all the time.

Why not let him make or decorate a pre made photo album. Then the teacher could bring it to the school with wedding pictures and not have to worry about ruining a "nice" photo album.

I teach 4th grade and the kids crack me up with the things that they say. Have the kids write a letter offering advice for the happy couple. These can be put into a scrapbook or photo album.

If its just for your son, how about some mugs w/ coffee, chocolate covered spoons, hot chocolate, etc. The packets are available and the spoons can be done easily w/ plastic spoons or dollar store metal spoons dipped in melted chocolate. Get cookie bags from wal-mart (by the cake decorating section) and wrap the spoons w/ a ribbon.

Another idea is a paint it yourself pottery place. Make a mug or a trivet for the teacher.

Pens w/ flowers attached in a flower pot. You know how you always run out of pens at home when you need to write something down.

Good luck! What a cute idea.

Can your daughter use a sewing machine and sew a straight line? I would buy an inexpensive set of towels and sew a layer of lace or ribbon across the front making them pretty or even do them on $1.00 handtowels from Target.

You did say simple so a blanket might be a bit much, but your son could do a throw instead (I've seen several kits on ebay that went for less than $10). They are great gifts!

The no sew fleece blankets are not hard to do at all. My 1st grader has me help her cut it, but she does the rest.

I just meant that it might be a "nicer" gift (blanket sized) than some of the other "simple" gifts. A throw wouldn't be quite as much. :goodvibes

how about getting some cloth napkins, then goggle napkin folding and have your son fold them into a tuxedo or something. we did this on the cruise and it was pretty easy. or he could decorate some cheap napkin rings to put around them.

How about making some fridge magnets? Maybe some with her new name on them or just some cute ones. Just make sure the magnet is a strong one & not a cheap one.

Paint a bird house for her. Or go to the wood area of any craft store for things their to paing.

Brides always need thank you notes. Your child could draw a cheerful picture then you could copy onto note cards and pick up some envelopes for a thoughtful and useful gift!

or get a set of blank thank you notes and a rubber stamp and let your child do some stamping.

How about a basket of different colored candles and attach this poem. I saw this at a bridal shower one day and it was a hit!

A basket of candles that come in a pair
In all different colors, for you two to share
The white ones burn first
They are wrapped in white lace
To celebrate your first married night
In your new chosen place.
The green pair is taller, and also much thinner
Burn with the first company, you have over for dinner.
The dark blue candles are for after your first fight
Use them to burn while making up all night.
Pink candles set the mood and pave the way
For your first married Valentine’s Day.
Now, when your first year of marriage is through
The cream anniversary pair, will light for you two.
Red candles aflame, both your futures are bright
Celebrate promotions you’ve worked toward with all of your might.
By this time we hope, maybe, just maybe
You can light the purple ones, on the birth of your baby.
And just when you thought you’d put these away
Take the light blue ones out-for your fifth anniversary day.
Now just one more pair left - for the big 2 5
The anniversary pair that will keep your love alive.
Congratulations [insert Bride and Groom's names]
On the start of your forever
May the two of you always be happy together
And burn these candles
Just the way we said
But please don’t forget-blow them out before bed!

What about making a door sign with her new name on it? Just get wooden letters to paint and glue on the sign.
Love the candle poem KK. :thumbsup2

Have him make a cookbook. Have him write out (or print from the computer) some of his favourite recipes, put them in a binder that he can decorate.

When I was married 12 years ago, my class gave me this - every child submitted one or two recipes and I smile everytime I bring it out - there are few recipes that are now treasured favourites.

How about a kitchen witch?

You can get a plain white one and let your kid decorate it all up. They have them on sale often, plus, it is useful, too.
