Homecomin’ question

We are thinking of trying Homecomin on our arrival day in Oct. As a family, we don’t eat large amounts so I’m wondering if we would be able to share a fried chicken meal and if my 13 and 15 year olds could order off the kids menu? If we all have to order a $30 meal and would waste most of it we may not go. Thanks!

Homecomin has pretty big portions, easy to share. The fried chicken comes with two pieces, was beast and thigh I believe, along with the side and donuts. If that isn’t enough, an appetizer will help too. Also, I had the fried catfish, which was two large fillets of fish. Desert was skipped (not just because couldn’t eat much more but they don’t have the shine cake back on the menu yet).

While sharing is not 'discouraged' at Disney, sharing is not 'frowned at' either.

In a nutshell - do what is best for your family.

Servers are trained well-enough to provide the information to assist you with that decision.

Some, SOME, places at Disney have age-limits for kids meals. According to Disney website, Kids Meals at Homecoming' are for children 9 or younger. Therefore, my recommendation is to look at the sides/apps to see if your kids have something small from which to chose, or, be prepared to share another entree.

Simple answer? Yes, you can share a meal. Our server told us that the portions are large and we could share. We did, BUT we forgot to check the bill (our fault), and the server charged us for 2 meals!!! I don't know abour ordering off the kids menu at HOmecomin, but we order off the kids menu at all the other restaurants, so you probably can.

We've always got two adult meals between 2 adults and a Disney adult at Homecoming. It's never been a problem.

You might want to consider your kids sharing an adult meal. If you request it, they will divide the portions in the kitchen.

We have always shared at Homecoming. Usually, my husband and I eat our son's sides from the kids meal. He's a picky 14 year old, who doesn't eat a lot. I sometimes just order an appetizer as my main meal, then we usually order an appetizer to share. Husband usually gets is own entree or we split a few appetizers. They don't enforce any weird non-sharing rules or even age limits on the kids meals. Be sure to tip extra if you are going to share, since it's really about the same amount of work for less money.

I would just order 2 adult meals to share and ask for it to be served family style (so they bring you 4 empty plates and then they serve the 2 meals in the middle of the table)...I do this all the time at my local Indian eatery.

My onsite experience ( but not with Homecomin' ) is that you can order off the kids menu but they do adjust it to an adult meal. Meaning the portion is more of an adult size and the price is adjusted to an adult meal.

Homecomin' may be different but just be prepared for that. Our service advised that is what it would be like when we ordered so there was no surprise at the end when the bill came.

A few years ago, my 12 year old daughter was denied ordering from the kids menu at Whispering Canyons Cafe. The server made her order the burger (It was not beef, buffalo meat maybe?) off the adult menu. He didn’t even substitute the fancy fries for regular ones. We were. Extremely disappointed.
My point is, you are not guaranteed to be able to order off of the kids menu if you don’t meet the age limits.
I hope it works out for you. I too eat small portions and hate having to pay for food that I know will
Just be thrown away.

They give you plenty of food. The two kids can easily share an adult meal. You will likely still have leftovers.

I regret NOT sharing at Homecomin’ and I have a large appetite. 😂 My friend and I both ordered the chicken and donuts meals with macaroni and cheese plus we shared an appetizer. We should have shared the entree too. It’s a lot of food and it’s so worth it!

There's fried chicken on a biscuit on the appetizer menu (3 per serving), which your kids might like and all the sides can be ordered separately. The Mac and cheese is phenomenal and quite a large serving.

When we went (4 adults) we split an app, 2 orders of the fried chicken, a kitchen plate (3sides) and a dessert. It was a ton of food! So I would encourage sharing!

I’m an adult and have ordered off kids menu a lot at Disney with no issue.
And the portions are unreal at Homecomin’. Easily shareable. If you are interested in the deviled eggs, you can get a reduced portion. Can’t remember price per egg, though

Not a big eater either - my 12yo son and I got the chick & donuts w/ mac & cheese, & I got one devil egg & one thigh high chick biscuit trying to save room for desert & too full! Really, really yummy!

They let you order one egg and one biscuit? Interesting.

When we were there last year, they told me I had to order the eggs in pairs, two halves = 1 egg maybe?
