Anyone stay at Home2 recently? There are very few reviews on tripadvisor and I'd like to hear about any recent experiences with the hotel. Thanks!

We have stayed there a few times recently, including a trip in December. Anything specific you want to know?

Overall, we love the location and have also stayed at the connected Garden Inn. The rooms were great, the breakfast was good and with only a 10-12 minute walk to security, it can’t be beat for us Hilton fans.

Thanks for answering!

This will be our first time staying off property in a hotel other than the Candy Cane Inn, so I'm worried. I'm mostly worried about the walk and the location. Does the location seem dark and remote at the end of the night when walking back from the parks? We always took the Candy Cane shuttle at the end of the night for safety reasons as well as sore feet.

I'm thinking maybe and Uber at night. I'm just pretty frugal and that seems like a waste of money.

The rooms look nice online. I'm not really worried about that aspect. If the breakfast has fruit and yogurt for me and waffles and pastries for my guys, then we are all set.

I'm such a creature of habit when it comes to DL but it seems like a no-brainer to go with such a nice looking, new hotel. And we got it free with points!

I couldn’t imagine taking an Uber as it is so close. There were always plenty of folks and lighting, it didn’t give off a creepy vibe to me at all, but I am a pretty big dude so keep that in mind.

From what I remember, it had all of that when we ate there in December. Our last trips in March and June were both at the Hilton Garden Inn so we didn’t get the breakfast buffet. I will mention that their little cafe downstairs has amazing coffee options. We really enjoy it in the morning. We get $20 food & beverage credit at Garden Inn per day thanks to our status and it came in handy.

It really is a very pleasant place to stay in my opinion. We absolutely love it over our precious Homewood Suites choice due to the location and being walkable. I don’t imagine us staying anywhere else for a while.

I'll be with two big dudes so I guess I can stop worrying about the walk at night.

Now, If it compares nicely to Homewood Suites then that is all I need to hear. I'm a fan of the brand.

Yeah the main difference is that the kitchen / couch area is not separate like it as Homewood Suites. Minor bummer but not that important in our family.

How about freeway noise? Is there any quick way to cut through, or do you have to follow the road around?

From what I've read online there is no cut through.

Hopefully, @MonocularVision can answer that. Also very curious about freeway noise. I'm deaf in one ear so it wont bother me but my boys have excellent hearing.

I can confirm that there is no cut through other than you can go diagonally across the Courtyard parking area once you've come around to the front of that hotel.

I can't comment on freeway noise as I haven't stayed at the Home2 yet (though I have stayed at the brand elsewhere and like it so it's definitely on my list!) but I have stayed at the Holiday Inn Express next door and it wasn't too bad there even with a room that faced the freeway- better than freeway facing rooms I've had at the Hojo, probably due to newer windows etc. so hopefully the Home2/Garden Inn duo are similar.

We loved our stay at both home 2 suites and Hilton garden inn. The walk seems quick and the rooms are nicely appointed! I would feel safe walking back to both places alone at night. Have a fun trip!

Can confirm: no cut through but as mentioned, you can “cut through” the Courtyard/Mimi’s Cafe parking lot to save a little time.

As for freeway noise, probably none to very little if you are at Home2Suites. That half of the hotel is further from the highway and many rooms are essentially on the opposite side of the building.

For Hilton Garden Inn, we have had one room on the fourth floor facing the freeway where we could make out the general hum of traffic but it didn’t bother us at all. And I get pretty easily bothered by noise.

How much farther is the walk then courtyard?

Just measured using the Google Maps measure distance feature: .16 miles. At an average walking speed of 17 minutes per mile, it is under 3 minutes which seems right to me.
So basically close enough to go back and forth. When we stayed at the DL hotel we went back to the hotel in the afternoon.

And a 10-12 walk overall to the parks. Seems doable and roughly the same as the walk from the Candy Cane. The only problem for me will be at the end of the night. I really rely on the Candy Cane shuttle at the end of the day when my feet want to fall off.
