I am looking for a good water filter for the house. I am tired of purchasing bottle water. What is a good brand and type of system? Brita, Pur or something else. I have seen the pitchers and something that goes on the faucet. Any suggestions? TIA

We used to have a pur system, but it was a 18 cup dispenser. We loved that and would still use it if we didn't get a fridge that has a water line with filter in it. We've used brita in the past too, and they are awesome as well. Just make sure you get the size you want, we were filling the pitchers too often.

I used the Brita but wasn't too pleased with the taste. I had to buy 2 pitchers. I'd fill them both up and then we'd end up drinking all the watr but would have a cold when ready for when we needed more water.

I love Smart Water but it is too expensive and my hubby was having a fit when I would buy it.

We just bought the Premier Water system from Costco it attachs under the sink and the Water is SO DELICIOUS! With the coupon it was 124.

I think the Brita is like 40+ at Costco.

So anyway good luck in your pursuit off good clean water!

We have a Culligan RO system. :)

I have a Brita water pitcher and love it! I also use a Brita water bottle. The pitcher I have has a sensor and lets me know when to change the filter. I bought it in January and am just now getting ready to change the filter for the first time. The water bottle filter is supposed to be equivalent to over 300 bottles of water. I use mine daily and will probably change it much sooner than it calls for. There is no way to tell when it really needs to be changed which I would say is the downfall of this product.

We have a Brita container and seem to fill it up an awful lot. We had a RO system but it became too expensive to buy the equipment. (Thanks Hubby!):sad2:

How expensive are the Culligan systems? We have horrible well water (iron sediment & sulfur smell) and we need something for the whole house (laundry, showers, fixtures are all getting wrecked), not just the kitchen faucet. I have no idea how much a decent setup will cost. ?????

We use this

my mom bought it for me and it is very fresh, clean and when the tap water smells like chlorine the filtered water smells fresh and clean. Tastes crisp and clean like bottled water.

The major plus is it lasts for 25k gallons which is a pretty long time.

We use a PUR faucet mount and have been very happy with it. I would suggest getting the style that has the switch piece you flip down while the filter holder stays in place, rather than the one where you flip the filter holder itself to turn on the filtered water (we had 2 of this style break).

Better Homes and Gardens just did a one year test of water filter systems, etc. !st, the tests on what is IN our tap water is scary (I include bottled in this too,as it isn't different)
We are using a Brita filter now, which tastes fine, but for pitchers, the PUR took out the most nasty stuff.so I'm getting one of those soon....:thumbsup2
