Just returned home today from the Polynesian. I wanted to thank everyone on this board for all the input . It certainly made planning our trip fun and informative. We were very, very pleased and delighted with the Polynesian. Let me say first off, I am a bit of a " clean freak", and our room passed the test. It was very beautiful and clean as well. The housekeeping staff did a wonderful job .
The grounds were just beautiful, and the pools were sparkling.
Everyone was friendly, with "Alohas" all over the place.
I can only hope everyone's trips to Disney, whether on property, or off, are happy and wonderful. Thanks to all !

Hi mareemouse,

Sounds like you had a wonderful trip! We are going to the Polynesian in December and it is nice to see you were more than pleased! What longhouse were you booked at?

I am really looking forward to our stay:) Thank You for posting.

Thanks for the report...I hope to stay there on my next trip :)

Welcome home. Nice to hear a positive reports first thing in the morning. We just re-vamped our vacation. Added a cruise, but still held out for Poly when we dock for a few nights!

Aloha,

Glad to hear things are as magical as ever at the Polynesian. It sounds like you had a great trip. What building were you in? We'll be there next week!:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Glad you had a nice trip. I stayed at the Poly in June after reading tikiman's pages on Poly and boy was I glad I did. The funny thing is I thought cause it was so old it was going to be horrible it was no where near that. Still the YC is my favorite cause of the location but I will stay at the Poly again, it is beautiful. :D

Welcome back. So glad to hear your trip was magical.

It's always good to hear you make a great choice when choosing a resort. We sometimes choose resorts because of great reviews. Only to read about disappointments after you've chosen. Thanks for taking the time to tell us all we made the right choice.

We just got back from the Poly Friday. I was wondering what building you were in, because our room was not all that clean. The carpet made our socks black on the bottom (gross) and there were two large stains on the floor (obviously not a refurbished room). The bathroom wasn't all that clean either, noticeable rings in the toilet. I had always wanted to stay there, but now I don't think I would go back, the moderates we stayed at were cleaner. We were disspaointed. Oh we were in Rarotonga.

Oh, I forgot to add that we were on the 3rd floor and on our first day there the elevator was out of service, so we got to lug our toddler and stroller up and down all day!

mareemouse, I am glad to hear that your trip was so wonderful! We are going in February for the 1st time, so I hope we have as nice an experience as yours. We'll be staying in concierge, so I rally hope it will be worth the money.

tweety- too bad your experience wasn't so nice. With all of the mixed reviews, it really gets me nervous to spend so much $ at the Poly. I guess we'll nevr really know until we get there ourselves. One thing I can NOT stand is dirty socks! yuck! I think I would have complained about the toilet having rings. Very unsanitary!

thanks again for your reviews!

To answer your questions, we stayed at the Hawaii Longhouse. We were garden view concierge, and I might be odd, but I would prefer gardenview to lagoonview anyday. It was beautiful. Maybe cause I grew up near water, but the lush foliage certainly made the feel of being on an island very real. We were first floor.
There was a message on our machine the night before early entry resumed. It reminded us, and told us the first early entry park would be MGM. We didn't take advantage of this , however, for 2 reasons. It was just my husband and I, and also because the crowds were so light . I just didn't think it would make any difference.
I'd like to add that the concierge service and selections were very nice, and extremely plentiful. There was always someone refilling, and cleaning up.
Any more questions, feel free..........

Glad to see you had a great time!!! My wife and I love the poly...:D

Welcome back and it's nice to hear you had a good review of the Polynesian, we're staying there at Thanksgiving... ohmigod, I can actually say "we're staying there next month"!!! That feels so good!

we're not staying concierge, but I'm looking forward to just staying there!! any suggestions for a longhouse? I've read Tikiman's webpages and I'm narrowing it down to a couple of requests. But as long as it's non-smoking, that's really all I care about.

Glad to hear your stay was great!
We are leaving in 6 days for the Poly conceirgeGV. I haven't faxed room request yet. I don't know what # to request. Any suggestions? I know I would like the 1st floor. Did you use the conceirge services a lot? Also, how was the transportation to the AK (did you even go there?)?
thanks for your replies......
diane
going with 3 ds's and I just found out I am 2 months pregnant w/ #4. I realllly wanted to go on Space Mountain -whine!

Transportation buses to AK seemed to be the bus that came around the most often. Yes, we took it there.
Our GV concierge room was middle of ground floor building. Lovely view. We went to the Concierge lounge every morning for breakfast except one. We were there 6 nights. Also had more cookies than I should have in the afternoons ! ( ooops)
Evenings offerings were very nice, and I noticed they even had sandwiches made for the children on some nights.
Also, didn't seem to miss too many late night dessert offerings either. The resort turned out to be much more than what I expec ted, I don't think you can ask for more than that !

Mareemouse,

Welcome back and thanks for the report. I am glad you enjoyed the resort.

TweetyB,

I am sorry you ended up in Rarotonga. I have been hearing not so good things about it lately and it sounds like it needs a rehab but it will not come till next September. I try to suggest to people to not stay in Rarotonga.

Aloha

Steve

So glad you liked the Poly concierge. We were there last March for a week and just loved it. Food was delicious and you can't beat the warm friendly atmosphere. Wish I was going again soon....
