home phone service providers

We currently use ATT for cell and home. There is no bundle or discount for that. We will continue our home service...that is not debatable in our home.

Currently, our "base plan" is $16.99 a month, but with all the extra taxes and fees, it ends up at $26.00. We do not have long distance, caller id, etc. Just phone service.

Any recommendations for cheaper service that isn't an internet related service (no VOI)?

We use Verizon fios for phone Internet and cable. Love it. Would never go back

Sage Telecom

We've been very happy with Sage Telecom.

We bought an Ooma box. It's a VOIP service, but you don't pay a monthly fee. You pay for the box itself, and then they don't charge you for phone service. We do need to pay the government taxes/fees each month, which comes to about $3.50 a month. We waited for a deal on it, bought it, and haven't looked back. The quality is great.
