Hi All,

I bought a new tablet PC yesterday and I am trying to set up a home wirless network. We bought a Linksys wireless-G broadband Router but we get to the end of the quick set up and then cannot get an internet connection. I am running XP on my desktop with AOL powered by a Verizon DSL line. My DSL modem is Ethernet and my new tablet PC has an 801.11g card in it.

Do I need some sort of adaptor? I am at a loss and I was hoping that someone on the DIS might be tech savey. Any and all help will be appriciated.:confused3 :confused3 :confused3

hmmmmm, might wanna give the AOL for broadband & Linksys people. I could help if it was a laptop or desktop, but never done a tablet PC yet :(

Thanks anyway Joe. I am going to try them also but I figured I would give her a try also. I have been reading all morning so I am almost 100% sure I need a PIC for my desktop.

I don't know much about Tablets at all, but I'm running a Linksys home network. Did you run any software on the tablet to setup the internet connection with the router. For example, we need to configure each pc to "talk" to our router, enter WEP encryption password, etc.

Does the tablet show a conection to the router? If it doesn't make sure the wireless adapter in the tablet is on and running also make sure it is set to run at G speeds. Linksys is sometimes picky with different adapters. What OS is on the tablet and what brand is it this may help also in troubleshooting the issue. Let us know so we can be of further assistance.

If you want the AOL screen you will have to set it up with teh AOL software otherwise you will use either NEtscape or IE. Again what version of Windows is on the tablet?

Hi Tiffany!!

Are any of your pc's getting to the internet?
If not, did you put your username and password (aol/verizon) in your linksys router?
Check the settings on your linksys, is your connection type PPPOE, not sure what type aol/verizon uses.
Is your router getting and IP address from verizon? (you can see that under the status tab.
Hope this helps.

Hi ckj,

I now have my desktop fully functional but when I trun on my new tablet it just gets stuck at the Windows is starting up screen. I have sent an email to the Averatec Tech Support email address and I am going to check out the Microsoft site right now.

Any ideas on what to do short of bringing it back to the store will be appriciated.
