It also did very well overseas so it's not out of the question, even with the tepid domestic box office. It's getting to where movies are making more of their money overseas, so they may start making the films with that audience in mind first. I actually liked the latest POTC so more is fine with me.

I disagree. I have found 4 and 5 to both be much better than 2 or 3. The first one is still he best one though.

5 was better than 4. You also have to realize they are trying to get away from the original cast and start a new group going forward after 5. There is quite a time jump from even 4 to 5. They did get some closure to some things in 5, so it is possible Jack will be a minimal character going forward. I think that would really hurt future movies though. Most people want to see Captain Jack.
