Are any of you making presents for your kids this year in an effort to save money? My 7-yo is completely into angry birds right now. All he wants for Christmas is an I-tunes card LOL I found angry birds plush toys online but out of stock and $15 each?! I don't think so. SO...went and bought some oven-bake clay and have been making mini-versions. Now I'm wondering which one of us really has the obsession!

Anyone else doing something similar?

Now that is a fun idea! I should do something like that for my DD22 who is away at college, maybe some coupons she can "cash in" when she needs help throughout year with the bills or a meal out.

I really need some cheap stocking stuffer type ideas this year, my 22yo is getting a trip to Disney, and my 19yo just got a PS3 about a month ago (his present). My DH and I are giving each other an aft-balcony cruise next summer, so basically there won't be a whole lot of "Stuff" under the tree!

I am making aprons for my dd9. She loves helping in the kitchen. I am also making them for my 3 nieces that are all 2yo. They are getting play kitchens, so I thought it would be cute to make them one, too!

We do this. Last year we didn't do it because we thought the kids would be getting tired of it, and they both were so upset they didn't get their coupon books.

We put in things like boys night out, ice cream, pizza night, extra hour of video game time, dad does a chore for you, etc.

We learned that we have to add fine print like pizza coupon can't be used after mom has already started making dinner.

I'm making my daughter and her American Girl doll matching no sew tutus. Last week we made a fleece pillow and sleeping bag for the doll also. (Also no sew)

I need some ideas for my 9 year old son though!

This isn't quite a true craft, but I took pictures of my boys playing sports from this year and made them each their own little 5x7 soft cover photo album with free/cheap deals that were out about a month ago.

I think they will like having an album of just themselves.

My hubby makes something for our girls every year......this year he's making them each desks for their bedrooms

Previously he's made them AG bunk beds with handsewn quilts, mattresses, and pillows and a beautiful barn for my 10 year old DD's Breyer horses.

I'm making new capes for my girls, the old one was made 7 years ago! It used to drag the floor and now doesn't come to their knees! Also matching apron for them and their AG dolls. Hoping to do matching P.J.s too. For a cousin I'm making a Minnie Helper apron, embroidering Minnie on an apron with the word HELPER underneath, going to have a pink and white dot ruffle on there somewhere. Oh, and a matching chef hat! Felt play food to go with this apron. If I have time maybe some new hats. Found directions for a mans ski mask made out of fleece, thought that might come in handy for my DH when he's feeding the cows.

I crocheted afghans for the two older kids. They are away at college and I thought these would be something nice to keep them warm while the study or watch tv. The youngest will have to wait until he heads off to school before he gets one.

I am making a banner to hold my son's Scout badges they he receives at certain events - the kinds of things that don't go on the uniform.

For my daughter, I'm making her a "beginning needlepoint" kit with a wooden hoop, burlap (some of which I've pre-marked with a fabric marker), tapestry needles and yard. Oh, and some hairband thingies.

I have a few projects I started for my kids for the holidays and don't know how many I'll finish since my mom passed away 2 weeks ago, and I have so much to catch up on.

But this is what I planned on doing:

a large no-sew double sided fleece blanket for my DD13 who plays club volleyball...they set up "camp" for the day on game day during their season

decopagued (sp?) decorated clip boards for both my girls (see link below that I got from another disser)

A small bulletin board decorated by painting the woodwork and adding fabric to the corkboard part with pretty pins for a jewelry board for my girls' rooms.

Scrapbooking for my DS15~ they are time consuming and expensive to put together, but he is a sophomore already and I'd love to get his done before he graduates. I have his Middle School, Confirmation photos and all Boy Scout things to do. He loves them when they're done.

I'm so sorry to hear about your mom! Maybe the projects will give you something to keep your mind busy and help the holidays be a little brighter. I'm sure she will be watching over your shoulder. I would love to see pictures!

We lost my grandmother and my brother this year so the holidays are going to be bittersweet. I want to do something special for my mom to help her through it! I'm "dragging her" out of MO to take her to Disney in February, but would really like to do something special for Christmas also!
