What has been your experience with internet providers? Which has the best service? Which has the best price? Which has both good service and a good price??

I am fine with Comcast, rarely a problem, fast as can be, almost insatnt, always. I had a problem a few weeks back, the ycame out and fixed something outside.

I would imagine you are limited in your choices however, to what is in your area.

We have had Roadrunner from Time Warner Cable for 4 years now and I'm very happy. I have a package bundled with my digital cable and their customer service has been very good. They've even helped me with my router issues when it's not part of the deal. I pay $88 a month for both digital cable and cable modem.

Another plus for RR for me is that they give you a free firewall and antivirus software called EZ Armor. It's actually pretty good and hasn't given me any problems at all.

Cable Internet just came to our town and I'm quite happy with Adelphia for now. Some neighbors of mine have Verizon for their DSL and they seem to like that too. I've been on cable for 2 or 3 months now and it's lightening speed. Click a site, it's loaded instantly. Having spent about 10 years with dial-up, you won't hear me complaining.

For broadband I had 2 options available: Comcast (cable) and SBC (DSL). For dial-up I had the choice between 30+ providers. In the end I picked Comcast because 1) I wanted a high speed connection and 2) Cable is generally faster than DSL (although DSL is generally cheaper).

I will never go back to dial-up!...plus my Xbox Live needs broadband!

If you are looking for a 56k connection that is really cheap, check out WalMart or Net Zero, both go for $9 or so a month and have gotten "decend" reviews.

You're on Live? We have Live too. What games to you play?

We use Verizon DSL. My parents are still using a dial-up with limited access. They have very limited choices in their part of MT.

RSC2 (I'm bad)
PGR2 (I'm bad...I love racing games but I'm not any good at them)
Links (I'm OK)
Top Spin (Never played on Live...finishing up single player)
Mech Assault (I'm OK but haven't played in a while)

Thinking about NCAA 2005 and patiently waiting on Halo2 and DOA Ultimate.

I don't get to play too often, DW and 2 DD's take priority. Send me a friend invite if you're interested, my gamertag is in my sig.

Of those, we have RSC2 and of course, Mech Assault. My son downloaded additional content for Mech Assaut and that's all he plays anymore. He tells me that not too many people want to pay for it, so there aren't many people on, but he said, it's really worth the $. While I don't like paying for all that crap...I don't mind having played for that one beings he is using it lots.

We have DDR and I refuse to pay to download all of those additional songs.

I think I'm going to pick up PGR2. It's pretty cheap on eBay. I've heard great things about Top Spin, but don't think it's our thing.

and....

Who isn't waiting for Halo 2? It's going to be the game of the year IF, notice I said IF, they get it released this year!!!!

You're not one for the shooter games? I see you didn't list any. Well, with the exception of Halo 2 of course.

BTW....username is KillerChief if you ever wanna play sometime.

Halo2: I think it will be released before Xmas, MS has a lot riding on it. Halo2 will be a system seller and will add a lot of people on Live. Bungie is a great studio...I think...I hope...that they will get it released before Xmas.

I love FPS games - probably my favorite genre (in single player anyway). The tactical shooters on Live are a little to tactical for me - I like more action. I have Unreal and like it but the performance is bad on Live. I forgot that I also have RTCW which I play once and a while. I'm looking forward to Battlefield: Modern Combat also.

mtblujeans..Sorry for hijacking the thread!

We are all so tired of dial up. DH cannot bring himself to get DSL as he is pretty old fashion about luxury items and $$. But, with teenagers now, and having 4 computers in the house, I think dial up is going to have to hit the road soon! Thanks everybody!!
