Home improvement/painting experts...help needed

We are prepping our house for sale within the next month. About 3 months ago we repainted our master bath. No big deal, but now we need to repaint the "toilet/shower" room that is part of, yet separate from the master bath. I just finished taping of the baseboards, and as I was struggling to get the tape on tha baseboard behind the toilet, a question suddenly hit me:

Short of taking the toilet tank off (an option, but not a realistic one since DH is out of town), how do you paint behind the toilet tank??

Any thoughts??

PS. I could wait for DH to come home, but I am really trying to ge a head start on some of these things.

There is a really thin roller that will fit behind the toilet. I borrowed one from my brother.

Shut the water off near the wall-

Flush the toilet- this will drain the tank.

There are 2 butteryfly nuts on two long lag bolts one on each side of the tank-

Undo them......pull tank off.....TADA!

should take about 3 minutes tops to take off

Are you afraid the potentil buyer may un-hook the toilet to see if the wall behind it is painted?

No, but I do like to do the job right the first time!! And considering the wallpaper I am covering, you would too!

They are a pain to get around. . .

While the thin roller and taking off the tank are good suggestions, the easiet thing would be to not paint at all and to break the light bulbs in the room right before showing the house. . then act surprised the lights are out and say you'll get that fixed before you move..

Home Depot has the thin rollers that will easily paint behind the toilet tank. They have a blue handle and the roller covers can be purchased seperately.
You can also buy the kit which consists of the roller pan, the roller and 2 roller covers for about $5.87.
I actually use these more often than the full sized rollers even on bigger jobs like a bedroom wall. They are easier to handle and are lightweight as well.
I painted my front door with tthis roller a couple weeks ago in no time flat!
