Ok, some of you may remember I was concerned about size of tent and privacy issues for everyone traveling. We are in a preferred site even tho only tenting. Right now I am calling every day to the res. line, but so far no luck. It is a good thing we have something booked tho, because my dates are completely sold out in the campground now. So at least I have something! :cheer2:

When considering layout of how we'd do things, I realized we could put our tent on the concrete pad where the RV would go. I was thinking maybe we could duct tape it down where the stakes are? We use cots, so no worries about sleeping on the ground---in fact, they'd be nice and even on the concrete. Does anyone know if this is doable? I was also thinking maybe a brick? :confused3

Anyhoo, in my quest to find a big enough tent for all of us and enough privacy and not have to worry that we'd be told to take a tent down, I came across this mondo tent. It is a canvas condo! I just had to share!

I don't think I can ad pictures yet, although I haven't tried. But I am still earning my ears, so I don't think I can. But whoa! I think I need that!

Have a magical day!

Duct taping(while good for fixing almost every broken thing in the universe) will not adhere sufficiently enough to concrete to pull the tent tight enough...and the first light breeze that comes along will most likely blow the tent right on over. Now...maybe if you set your tent up ACROSS the concrete so that you can at least stake down the corners you might be able to get by.

My tent claims to be a 10ppl tent, but I wouldnt try to cram more than 6 in it.... heres a link to it : Magellan Tent its 19' long by 10' wide and takes about 15 minutes to set up alone. Ipitched it in my backyard for a couple of weeks...it went through a couple of torrential downpours...there was a small amount of seepage from the floor seems(which I DID previously seal) but all in all it held up REALLY well in the tough weather. Id like ZERO water..but have heard that some water seeping in at the bottom corners is to be expected...so Im satisfied, especially with that bottom dollar price!!!

Ahhhh, you are, like, a genius. That would make sense. How wide is the concrete pad, I wonder. Hmmm. Hopefully there will be a cancellation on the partial sites, and this will all be a mute point.

Thanks!

I would think that you could place stakes outside of the pad and use some sort of bungy or spring to connect the tent to the stake over a reasonable distance. I'm thinking the kind of things used to secure winter pool covers on.

These are the straps I'm referring to. You could probably pick them up at a pool supply place

Ohhh...thats a good idea too!!!:thumbsup2

I have tent camped in preferred a few times as well as seen quite a few others and FW does have some preferred sites with good size tent pads, I even had 2 tents on a site in the 300 loop. You just need to let them know a few days before you arrive that you have tents or you can also let them know (once again a few days before arrival) that you are willing to be "downgraded" to a partial hook-up. The reservationist should have this noted on your ressies too.

Ooooo, good idea. All that is left for Halloween are Preferred Sites. I might just have to let the reservationist know that we can be down-graded to a partial.:lmao: :lmao: Although I'm sure the boys would love to be near the BIG RIGS. With my two though, I'm sure that they'd either invite themselves into the rigs, or disappear under them.....:lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :thumbsup2

You could stake one side in the gravel and then use ropes for the two corners on the concrete and stretch them out to stake in the ground. It might take some fiddling to get those two corners right, but you could try this out at home and see if it would work. You could also try the ropes on all four corners and see how that might work.

I have never been camping, but I HAVE set up shelters at craft fairs. What about bringing sand bags with you and then filling them up with the sand on the pad? You could lash tie-downs to those.

Maybe its something like
calling a 400lb man Tiny, or Slim for a nickname...:confused3

That tent looks big enough to get all four corners off the pad,,

No matter what size site you have, you should have "some" sand pad, and should be able to set up at least 3 corners of yoru tent on the sand or stretching across the driveway.

Ok, all great ideas. The pool bungies would probably work great actually. I suppose I'll have to see what I am dealing with when I get there. I've never been stellar on the patience thing.

Thanks!
