But Rick, it only takes a few seconds in my otherwise fulfilling life to point out the injustices here...........

..... it's like a hobby.... :)

:rotfl: And a much more interesting hobby, then, say, laundry!

It would've been nice if this thread was left where it was on page 2 or 3. Last post was by Buckalew around midnight. Nobody else had posted on it until 9 this morning, which once again puts it back up on page one to be rehashed over and over and over and over and over and over again.

Ofcourse my posting this doesn't make it any better....I'm just saying.

Interesting that you chose locked threads asking about you that were closed as examples of your confusion about your poor treatment.

And you chose threads about someone you've treated cruelly and disrespectfully, and who was fighting a debilitating illness as further evidence of your mistreatment.

What about all the many, many other threads about you that weren't closed? There are several of them on the first few pages right now.

Sorry our housekeeping isn't always 100% to your specifications, but we're human, have real lives and other jobs, and do the best we can to make the right decisions for the DIS boards and all of the posters here.

This is not about confusion at all. You seem to be taking it personally.

I agree on that one.

If I may comment though about looking for someone via a thread title sometimes a PM is no good.
For instance if someone is sick or in the hospital ,they are not going to answer their PM's (obviously), but there could be someone on this board who knows what's going on. Some people do communicate to others so if there is a problem they can alert the boards Does that make sense?

For instance not too long ago I made a post asking about Christine. I knew she had been sick and I hadn't seen her post for a few days. I asked publicly about her in case somebody knew something. She was fine, she answered me and that was that.
Sometimes you just need to go that route. I think between the 2 of us there was 4 posts to the entire thread. Not OT, no hijacking, just concern.

But it can be done WHILE doing laundry!

:laundy:

The rules are never consistent - that much is true. And they don't have to be, because in general we are a very caring bunch. If we are worried about Lauri or Dan or anyone else, a quick post on the DIS usually gets a quick answer. Hijacking is oftentimes gradual and unintentional. And it can be fun. Like talking about laundry. Sometimes people are just being mean, and that can be annoying. So just walk away. And the "cliques" that get formed are just regular posters who aren't doing their laundry but are having lots of other fun anyways.

Take the good, leave the bad, and don't EVER think that life is fair! :thumbsup2

I just wanted to interject that the days I AM doing laundry are the ones I'm here the most. :thumbsup2
Didn't mean to hijack...Carry on!

Way to go Rick. Off to the naughty corner.

I have to laugh when people post on a thread telling people to stop posting because they're being immature or whatever. Umm.. when you post to say that you're doing exactly what you're telling people to stop doing.

If you had read my whole post, you would have seen me mention Dan's advanced age and the potential for his imminent death..... So I can compare the two situations, and I did.

Are you serious here? There was a lot of winking in that whole Dan's imminent death thing as I would expect there to be. Sounded as though you were joking which is what I hope you were doing. Laureen on the other hand is genuinely ill. I don't think joking about someone being old and then referring to someone who has genuine health concerns are equal. Not trying to be snotty, just saying I hope this wasn't meant the way it sounds.

WOW!

Color me a big fat "DUH", but I'm confused. Is this not the Community Board? In a "Community" would one not expect to find many people of varying backgrounds who may or may not meet each other with varying degrees of frequency?

I know in my community, I'll visit the bank thread and run into a couple of people I know and several I don't. Same with the grocery store thread. And don't even get me started on the gas station thread!

There are people I know, who, every Friday night at 5:30, are at the BINGO thread! I choose not to participate in that particular thread because the cigarette smoke is just way too thick!

On the 4th, my community had a Frog Jumping Contest Thread for young and old! My sister went with her kids, but I tend to forget about that thread every year. They expect us to get up and be dressed with frogs in hand at 10:00am! On our day off!

Every weekday, I, along with a couple thousand other people, visit the go to work at the hospital thread. There are a lot of us, and we do share some things in common, and even an inside joke or two. Does that make us a "clique"?

In my community, I've been known to have a short conversation with someone over a topic that would probably be of little interest to more than 4 or 5 other people, but I'll invite other people to that conversation, because I'm not sure which 4 or 5 other people are the specific people who will be interested. Other times, it turns out that far, far more than 4 or 5 people are interested, and they're all still welcome to participate. But I wouldn't have known that, had I not put the topic out there for discussion. And then sometimes, I just throw out something silly on a boring day to see if anyone else is as bored as I am. But none of this is generally enough to have me "banned" from my community. Or to even have that thought enter anyone's head.

And before I paint my community as too idyllic, let me just say there are a few members of my community of whom I'm not terribly fond. Nor are they terribly fond of me. When I run into those people, say, in the church thread, or the elementary school PTA thread, we share civilities and go about our own business with grace and decorum. We do not lower ourselves to petty rudeness.

This is wonderfully stated. Clearly different people are going to have different things they want to do and talk about. Our interests makes us who are we are in fact, make us interesting to be around. I understand the concern over hijacking and can see how people would like that to be moderated better, or perhaps differently. But what I try to keep in mind is that we all do the best we can. Sometimes we blow it. I think that goes for everyone. As far as linking old threads--good grief. Let the past be the past--people aren't perfect.
