So the best laid plans of mice and men.....

We are doing 5 days at WDW, then heading south to spend a week with my parents in Bonita Springs. Due to some health issues with my dad, they may or may not be up to the WDW part of our trip, so about 2 weeks ago, I decided to reserve a rental with ALamo, just in case. Pick it up at the Car Care Center, return it to RSW when we fly home.

Mid Sized SUV for $215 with all taxes for February School Vacation week. Not a bad deal.

Just for giggles I checked the same dates last night. $655!!! :earseek:

I have to believe the rates will come down again, but wow!

Rental car rates right now are almost absurd. I was looking to book a rental during our DD's spring break next April and the rates are sky high -- $300 - $500 a week. Experience has taught me that rates do often come down. I requoted our rental car at MCO for 11/12 - 19 several times and watched the rate drop over $110. I usually put in my reservation, then go back and requote, requote, requote until the last minute. Sometimes there's a big drop, sometimes I shaved just a few bucks off... either way it's more money in my pocket.
