Holy day observation Dec 8

Someone told me this is not a archdiocese holy day in Orlando, Dec 8 Immaculate Conception and we do not have to attend mass. Since going is a small inconvience does anyone know for sure? Is there a web site to checTHANKS

The Feast of the Immaculate Conception is a holy day so I don't know how the Diocese would be able to grant mass dispensation??? If you don't think you can make it and you want dispensation speak with your priest. I would think he could offer you the answer you need.

Thanks for the comment. I do know that cetian holy days are celebrated on different days in different dioceses. I was hoping for someone from Orlando with a answer though.

Not sure, but this is a link to the Marian Shrine in the Disney area. It's an absolutely huge spectacular church.

Im not sure either, but I know my dd got a notice sent home with her from her CCD class, and it said that Fri. Dec. 8 is a day they must attend mass (so they were having one after school at 3:30)

I can tell you it definitely is a holy day in orlando because I was there last year on Dec 8 and we went to mass at the Mary Queen of the Universe Shrine. Believe me, I know sometimes it is inconvenient, especially when you have to rent a taxi to go, (and especially when you have to do it twice in one week), but if you are like me, you will feel a lot better about going than you will about skipping mass.
