Holy cow, beer prices at Splitsville!

I live in Texas. So places like a bowling alley don’t interest me when I go on vacation to Disney. When I go on vacation I try to do stuff I don’t get to do back home, I can go bowling on a random day in February anywhere. Plus a heck of a lot cheaper.

And you never hear about people bragging that they went bowling in the first place, unless it was like a team building event for work. Plus a $28.00 drink who do they think they are, the NFL.?

those SWGE visitors did for it decades at Chuck E Cheese, in my 60s now, I was young enough to see the joy but old enough to recognize the high cost of below average pizza.
I don't see Chuck E Cheese as comparable though. My kids used to go there for birthday parties in the day. It was overpriced in the sense that the pizza was absolute crap but it didn't cost a lot. It was a favorite with people of modest and low income. I'm not sure how you're getting your demographic for this group of "SWGE visitors." I suspect if they'd built a SW cantina instead of Splitsville, they could have charged those prices for food and drink. I'm just not sure many people are willing to fork over that kind of money for a bowling alley, even if it's an upscale one. People going to DLR are looking for theming, IMO, or the sense of quality. Maybe I'm wrong and people will flock to it, but when you're already spending so much to go to DLR, it seems to me that that would be an extra cost people would not see as worthwhile.

We are locals and even bowling at our boring alley nearby is $14/person/hour with shoes. Splitsville is $19 during the weekdays and they give a 10% AP discount so it's not TOO much more expensive.

The food though, is outrageously priced. $14 for chicken tenders? $25 for pizza? And they serve those cheap, disgusting crinkle cut fries. No thanks!

I don't know how they think they can get away with those alcohol prices considering they are priced WELL above the competition at Downtown Disney and even in the parks, where a pint of beer costs no more than $9 (for a premium draft).

my demographics for Splitsville come from the following observations about SWGE

* it is not for the locals as DLgal mentioned , but the international folks staying in the very expensive four star hotel. The new lodging is being built on the Transit tax valuation, Disney will want a quick return on the construction cost, so imagine how high that tax will be....which will lead to higher prices across the board.
* spending so much to go to DLR as Dizme mentioned, money is of no concern to the internationals folks who have waited decades for a true SWGE experience.
*SWGE and Marvel land is going to change the demographic of a Disneyland visitor and the financial requirements on a visitor to Disneyland who needs it NOW!! Maxpass should be free and visiting Disneyland on the calendar should be all the same color of blue. But demand and expendable income has allowed for those extra costs.
*Ernest Cline....he wrote his novel 10 years ago.....but generations flocking to SWGE had long before the writing of the novel dreamed of such an experience.....and those are not Disney generations.

DH wanted to check out Splitsville and grab and beer for our trip in a few weeks. I told him the price of even their cheapest domestic beer and he was shocked. No thanks Splitsville, even if we bowl we will just have a drink before or after.

:rotfl2: You’d think we’re running a different currency out here by that comparison!!

Tbh looks like they’re just trying to maintain their margins and have to account for CA costs. Would be fascinating to see their CA books for year 1.
Yeah adjusting to COL if you will (even if locals don't appear to want to pay that for what the place is) would make sense.

And :rotfl:on the currency part I agree

Wow, those Orlando prices are fantastic for 19oz drafts!

I would consider going there in Orlando, seeing those prices. I don't care if you can go bowling at home, sometimes it's fun to just have a night with family doing something like that in a new place.
