just booked the Fantasmic Dinner pkg at Hollywood & vine -
how is this restaurant , as we've never been there before -

thanks

The last time we ate there it was pretty good. It has been about two years though. It was a big buffet and there was something that all of enjoyed eating. My kids are not picky eaters but one dd is a bit more finicky than the other. Both of my girls found things that they really enjoyed eating. Grandma who was with us is the pickiest eater and she found a bunch of things she enjoyed eating. DH enjoyed the salad!

Two years ago we ate there and did not really care for it, it is the only restaurant in Disney we will not return to.. if you want to try it then try it cause you never know if you will like it or not.

Most of the reviews on here are negative but some do like it.

It was ok. It has some things that I didnt enjoy but my DH liked. But thats everywhere you go. Salads were good and the desserts were ok. I agree with the Lynn5700, Try it, or you'll never know....

It was awful, just awful. I wouldn't eat there again even if the food was free. I haven't been to Mama Melrose so I can't speak to it's quality, but we have done the Brown Derby Fantasmic package and it was worth the money and a much better meal than Hollywood & Vine.

We did the FDP during our Christmas trip. It was okay, but we'd never go back. There are just too many other better options. After a week of dining at Le Cellier, Coral Reef, Turf Club, Liberty Tree Tavern, Ohanas, Wolfgang Puck and Planet Hollywood, I can honestly say it was the worst meal we had at WDW. If it was our first dinner, it probably wouldn't have been that bad, but compared to the other places, it was a letdown. It was also the worst service we had. We had to beg for a refill on our drinks twice, and when she finally came back, it was more than 30 minutes later. She never cleared any dirty dishes, and to top it off, we were on the DDP and when it was time to pay the bill, I gave the waitress our KTTW and corresponding tip in cash (20% for a buffet). When she came back with my card, she had the nerve to tell me "You know, tips are not included in the DDP now." WTH! I politely told her I already gave her a tip in cash when she took our card. I guess she forgot.
Best TS for our family was Ohanas, followed by Coral Reef, then Le Cellier.

DBF and myself ate there as part of the Fantastmic package and we didn't mind it at all. We looked upon it as we got what we expected from there.

It is a diner buffet afterall - so there's things you'll like and others you won't. We simply ate what we thought we'd like and passed on the rest. We treated ourselves to the dessert cart too, which was nice.

Our waitress was very plesant and continuously topped our drinks up and cleared away plates when we moved.

We thought we got what we paid for and wasn't expecting much more. It was never going to be like CRT or Le Cellier, where we'd previously ate - but we took that opinion in with us and quite enjoyed ourselves.

My son and I ate there last year, the food was not too good (kind of like cardboard)..BUT the night before we ate at Boma so maybe we expected another experience like that. Just thought Id throw my 2 cents worth in.

We have eaten here on our last 2 trips and both times it was one of the best meals of the entire trip. Lots of folks knock it on the DIS but we truly have loved it both times. DH loves the spoon corn bread and the chocolate mousse is just awesome. They were also one of the best in accomodating my son's food allergies - the chef (Julie) was so kind and helpful (she was there last year and this year).

We had the Fantasmic pkg there in 2007, I think it is a good choice. There are lots of things to choose from so chances are you'll find some things. Our service was quite good and the AC was to die for on a hot August day. :thumbsup2

You have 3 choices for the Fantasmic pkg. Mama Melrose doesn't appeal to me. I wouldn't spend 2TS for Brown Derby so H&V will get my vote each time we do the pkg. While not espcially "special" it is fine for dinner and the best option for us.

We have been there twice. It was good once and not so good once. I loved the little desserts. The service was really bad the 2nd and most recent time.
You have to try for yourself. We are going to try Mama Melrose next time.

I think there is something to be said for this. Because there are so many other more wonderful places to eat, this just doesn't measure up to the other restaurants at Disney. I think I would agree with KatMark, they might have to pay me to eat there again. DHS is sorely missing in good table service restaurants. The only one I consider is 50's Prime Time, which isn't part of the Fantasmic package.

They share the same restrooms too. I liked the foold at 50s PrimeTime the last time we were there. H&V's food is okay, just not as good as the other TS options at WDW.

When are you going? I had no problem getting a seat at Fantasmic when I went in May last year. You can eat somewhere else or even have a snack in Fantasmic while you wait for the show to start.
Just another way to go.pirate:

We went for lunch last week and it was just okay. It is not one we will return to. All of the other character dining was much better - DH really loved the food at the Crystal Palace.

We are going end of March - w/2 other families - they are both doing the package so I'm doing it so we'll be able to see the show together -
I'm not too thrilled about the package - I would rather eat somewhere else :sad2:
I'm afraid that we won't be able to get seats though

We were equally impressed with H&V (and incredibly surprised, as I expected the worst after reading reviews on here).

I think the reviews are worth considering, but a lot of what we experience is luck of the day. We were the first seated for lunch that day, it wasn't crowded, the food options were endless, flavorful, and fresh, the servers were present but not pushy (as was my last experience at CM's), and the character interaction (although not my kids' favorites), was spectacular!

And this is coming from an annoyingly picky family :lmao: ( and a husband who usually dreads Disney buffets).

We are doing an early dinner - so no characters - our ADR is at 4:20 so I'm hoping that's early enough to be good
