Hollywood Studios to Epcot.....the walk

For what it's worth, on those hot days, the inside of the friendship boats is incredibly hot too. We about evaporated on one boat trip from HS to the dock at the Yacht Club. That was a 93 degree sunny day with little to no breeze. :crazy2::crazy2:

Dan

We did the boat once too! And you're rightist was suffocatingly hot. We made use of the free water at the various restaurants that entire trip.

Are the paths OP or PSUguy mentioned WC accessable, or are there stairs in the way?

We started walking from Epcot to MGM a few years ago. It's a lovely walk, and especially nice in the mornings or early evenings. We go during the dog days of summer, and did "the walk" in mid-afternoon once this last trip and damn near died of the heat. The CMs in the Boardwalk Bakery couldn't get us water fast enough!!

I enjoy reading when people still use MGM, instead of Hollywood Studios. It's cute.

And had I been the one walking from EPCOT to HS in a midday heat, ESPN Zone would have been the first place on the Boardwalk....with a cold beer.

Long ago I discovered that it is typically faster to walk to/from EPCOT and/or Hollywood Studio from Boardwalk resorts than it takes to ride the boats named Friendship.

And until a person can walk from Grand Floridian and/or Polynesian to MK, then Contemporary/Bay Lake is much preferred.

Matter of fact, when Fantasmic is over, my wife & I will likely take a bus to the Contemporary to grab a cocktail before heading into MK for fireworks.:cool1:

If you cut through the pool at the Boardwalk, leaping Horse Libations is usually a bit faster than ESPN and provides a nice drink when walking in either direction.

The fact that they do not have a bridge (swinging or elevated) or tunnel right there really irritates me..:)

Especially since the walkway goes from magic Kingdom all the way to the canal.

Imagine, it's your first trip to WDW and you splurge...ALL OUT. Grand Floridian it is. Then, your first morning you plan on spending all day at Magic Kingdom and at the end of the day your leaving Magic Kingdom and the monorail is down...."No worries honey, there's a walkway right there next to the monorail."

Then, as you walk down the nicely lit, paved walkway you do not realize your journey is about to conclude at the dead end of the path to nowhere.

We did the walk in August one night when we had the opportunity to watch Illuminations, then a 10:30 Fantasmic. DHS closed at 10:00 that night, so I didn't want to chance taking a bus over.

1.12 miles huh? That sounds about right. Although...my kids claimed it was 6 miles and to listen to them, it's getting closer to half-marathon length. That we're covering that "6 miles" in about 20-25 minutes is pretty impressive. I wasn't aware you could walk a 4 minute mile.

I agree.:)

It seems like they could put a drawbridge there for the EWP barges as they have done on World Showcase Promenade for the ROE barges.:)

The walk would be such a nice option for GF Guests who didn't want to wait on the boat or make 3 stops on the Monorail before reaching "home".:)

My guess is, with the addition of the new DVC Villas, they'll have to put something there. Contemporary/Bay Lake having the ability to wlak to the park, then be the first stop on the way home (when tired) trumps anything at Grand Floridian in my opinion.

All these trips and I had no idea it was possible to walk between MGM and Epcot. Great tip!

I've made that mistake already, we didn't want to wait fora. Boat but wanted to check out the grand Floridian and so I saw the walkway and said let's go walk there.....nice relaxing walk until the canal came and said "oh no you don't, go back to the kingdom of magic"

I then proceeded to guest relations and said that they need to at least put a sign at the start of the walkway that you can't get to the GF this way....the lady agreed, but I'm sure nothing has been placed.....who knows, in 8 days I'll find out :)

Not to mention they stock the lake with brain eating amoebas to prevent swimming across.

You just went at the wrong time. You're supposed to go when the parade barges are going through, so you can hop from the bank-to-the-barge-to-the-other-bank.

It's a WDW game o' skill.:thumbsup2

As a previous poster mentioned, this is why we prefer the Boardwalk. In addition to be cheaper than Y&B Club, it is centered more in the middle and presents an easy walk to two of the parks.

Boardwalk is actually a little more expensive than BC/YC...but only $10-$20 per night.

I was referring to the villas. A preferred view at the Boardwalk is very similar to Beach Club in pricing, but a standard view is significantly cheaper.

On the walk from the Boardwalk to the Studios, are there any benches you can sit down on just in case someone is tired from walking?

Well, yes and no.

There are no benches on the path, but if you get in a bind, there have the Boardwalk Tennis courts that will have benches.

After that, no, nothing but some grass on one side and the canal on the other:
