Hollywood Studios or Magic Kingdom on Thanksgiving Day?

We're taking a 3 night Merrytime cruise this Nov. and we'll be able to spend a couple days in the parks before we sail.
Would you recommend Hollywood Studios or Magic Kingdom for Thanksgiving Day? We know we want to do those two parks (because we're doing the other two this spring) but I'd like suggestions or advice on which park would be better on Turkey Day.

Common sense would point to Hollywood Studios as being less crowded than MK on almost any day, including Holidays. I think it would depend more on what you want to accomplish and which attractions are the most important to you.

Do you have park hoppers or not? Of those two I work suggest MK because you would be able to spend the whole day there, but it will be crowded around lunch time. There is potential that it may reach a phase closing. We usually go over Thanksgiving or Christmas and we always avoid MK on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. Also, are you going to be in Disney on Black Friday? If so, I would consider switching out HS with Epcot, so you can enjoy a day of Holidays Around the World. If you have not been during the holidays, then I would highly recommend spending some time in Epcot after Thanksgiving Day if possible. Back to your original question, you would be able to spend the whole day at MK. I question if HS is a true full-day park now and it would most likely be crowded for Thanksgiving with little capacity for decent sized crowds. Just my thoughts.

Common sense would point to that, you're right.
Actually by "better" I didn't necessarily mean less crowded just which experience is better.

Which experience is better is going to be subjective. We did MK on Thanksgiving Day 2015 and will do it again in 2017. We never do rope drop, but that was one day where we got there within a few minutes of park open. Truthfully, the morning crowd wasn't bad at all. We stayed until about 2pm and got lots done. We had a wonderful time. Very festive spirit, really enjoyed it and can't wait to do it again. I can't say what HS was like that day, but we went to HS one of the days after and it was really cool too (Osborne lights were there).

The changes at HS with the construction really haven't diminished the park. Nothing that was crowded has closed. It's really just Streets of America, Lights/Motors/Action (that show was crowded, but it's not a "ride", Honey I Shrunk the Kids. All the main attractions are still there and functioning.

We don't consider HS to be a full day park - but we never have. It's not just because they closed off Streets of America & LMA. I also think the dining options are a lot better at MK and would book a nice meal somewhere at MK. I have never been at Thanksgiving but I'm sure it will be crowded. I just think if you're not park hopping you would have more to do at MK... If you do go to HS you could eat a homestyle meal at 50's Prime Time...
