I was reading the Disney food blog and saw these pics - amazing!

I agree, Starring Rolls for a surgar fix or apple turnover for breakfast, but for a meal - not so much. No good counter service in HS.

I have never tried Starring Rolls but after reading about the cupcakes and seeing that ham sandwich, looks like a perfect place for lunch to me

Before being empty nesters we always hit Starring Rolls in the morning for coffee and muffins. Now Dh and I head straight for Brown Derby, that's thanks to Kevin.

Dh and I had always thought Brown Derby would be 'stuffy', but after one of Kevin's reviews we decided to give it a try....and we loved it! Now it's on our 'must do every trip' list.

However, after seeing those luscious cupcakes, we may have to stop in for a little pick me up at Starring Rolls.

Yes, but do they taste as good as the look?

Too often cupcakes are lovely to look at, but a crumbly mess to eat.

I find the Cobb Salad at HBD to be plenty for 2 people to share. It's $15. Very cheap OOP lunch in a lovely relaxing restaurant. That's what I've decided to do from now on when I'm in DHS at lunch time.

I've never thought of it as a destination. It's more like a stop along the way than an actual restaurant to me.

When we've had time to kill in the morning and we're hungry, we'll stop and get a muffin or whatever...but none of it is memorable enough to make me want to go back.

Kevin, I very much enjoy your dining reviews & have taken your advice on a lot of things(either avoiding or experiencing) but I have to say that Brown Derby was a huge miss for me. My steak was terrible & I had to wait for quite a while just to get some pepper. Due to being a very picky eater, I opted for fries with my steak & they just continued to get cold while I waited for the refill it took 20 minutes to get. To their credit, they reheated the steak & gave me fresh fries but the wait service was absolutely dreadful.

I had the worst meal i've ever had on property at Coral Reef a few years back but this actually trumped it. I might have to just wait a few years & try Brown Derby again as maybe I just caught the staff on a off night but I have to say that I just did not enjoy myself. The ambience was amazing, I loved the atmosphere but the food just didn't deliver.

I have read quite a few good reviews of Brown Derby lately but I am still fearfull of trying them again, some years back I had made a ressie there and was very excited about eating there, It was DH, myself,DS(18) and DS firend also 18. The portions were small for what they charged and even with dessert both boys and DH were not satisfied when we left.
I also had a somewhat bad expierence at Coral Reef also. The first time I went there everything was delicious, but the last time the wait was long, my shrimp were over cooked, I am not one to make a fuss so I ate them but have not been back since.
