Hollywood Studios crowds in July?

So my 60-day FP window was yesterday. Due to a brain glitch, I wasn't actually on the website lining them up until 7:12 AM, EST. And mine is just a five-day trip with only three in the parks, so we're talking 60+2 for my HS day. But ...

Already SD had no availability. I can accept that, given its popularity.

ToT had no availability before 4 o'clock.

And this is where it starts to seem strange to me -- as I went in throughout the morning to try to move ToT up in the day, I noticed that Indiana Jones and Beauty and the Beast moved into the "no availability" category.

Will HS be experiencing unusually high attendance? Or is this FP situation normal?

It’s really hard to tell. You and someone else had problems, but I had amazing luck. Of course, SDD was 60+7 for us, our 5th & final park day.

Tower of Terror will be open but undergoing a refurb that will reduce its capacity this summer, so FP+ has been more difficult than usual to snag.

I don’t know what’s up with Beauty & the Beast and Indiana Jones...

You definitely had issues with Indiana Jones and Beauty and the Beast; they should have been available.

Not surprising SDD was not available, and ToT makes sense if there's a refurb. The wait times last refurb were high.

What week in July are you going? Attendance tends to be high at the beginning of the month, around July 4th, and low later on in the month.

Ah, I didn't know about the refurb. So that one makes sense now.

This year we're going July 9th through 13th. We usually go right around the 4th, though, so I've dealt with this time period before--but never had trouble like this!

Not really a big deal, because we enjoy everything from Streetmosphere to Storm Troopers, and anything else we come across while there. I just thought it was weird and wondered...

Free dining starts on the 5th. I have a feeling that will make the week after the 4th pretty busy.

We are going the first week of July for just 5 days. For the first time ever I had no problem getting whatever I wanted every day.

We are going those exact same days before a cruise. I also had the worst trouble EVER booking FPs. I couldn't get ToT until later as well. With the refurb, it was not a surprise to me. But I was surprised when I couldn't get Test Track until later in the morning. Hopefully, I will be able to move it to an earlier time the night before or day of.

Hopefully, the parks will not be too crowded. Free dining will cause on site reservations to fill. But maybe off site stays are still on the low side of bookings.

Another person going the same time frame weighing in here! There was definitely an issue getting TOT, but as PPs have mentioned there is a refurb so it will be running at half capacity. I was able to get FOP without any issue at 60+6 and SDD for an evening slot at 60+5. I did not experience issues with anything else- including TT. We typically go in July and have not had an issue getting anything but the most popular/newest rides for several years now.
