Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit vs Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith

Both rides are the two music coasters in the Orlando parks. Which is the better ride?

Rip Ride Rockit is definitely more intense. RnRC is more fun visually.

Ganged I’ve ever been on either but RRR scares me and Craig and Ryno confirmed my fears when they discussed how when you get stuck you can be stuck vertically.

Rock n Roller Coaster is infinitely better. RRR has one of the worst designed restraints ever. It is painful to ride.

looking at the photos it's striking to see one ride has the harness over the shoulder and the other one only around the waist? It seems the latter wouldn't be as "trustworthy" but I'm not a physics expert.

It is not just around the waist.
The seat is molded so it goes up between the knees to nearly touch the bottom of the restraint. This makes it impossible to slide out of, either up or down.



The restrictions for the ride state "When seated, one natural full leg and one natural leg that extends to edge of seat is required. No prosthetic limbs." That restriction means you cannot slide out.

I know all of this because I didn't the first time I rode and had a panic attack thinking my son, seated next to me, was going to fly out. I researched the heck out of it once I got home. I can now ride calmly and enjoy it.

And I cannot stand RNRC.

When I first rode it I reached over to my son's arm and held on for dear life. I ended up with a bruise on the inside of my upper arm from my restraint, and on my forearm from his restraint. I was so scared.*

It's a lot better now.

The ride up is freaky, though! I don't deny that.

RNRC hurts. I love Incredicoaster at DCA (though I last rode it as Screamin'), so it's not the surprise launch that gets me, but that it's in the dark and goes into what I think are corkscrews. Throws my head all around and just hurts. I have been unable to rally after that, and feel awful when the ride is done.

*but not as scared as I've been with him on Pteranodon Flyers. It's so slow and I'm just looking down and imagining problems... Thankfully he outgrew it FAST and I only have the one kid, so no more riding it!
