Hollywood / Los Angeles

So we've booked our trip to Cali in Feb/March
Unfortunately, we will only be in the Hollywood / Los Angeles area for two days. ONE of those days will be taken up by Universal Studios Hollywood ( though, I don't know what time they close, so we might have some extra time in the evening ).

My mother would like to do a city tour ( preferably the kind you can get off and back on a bus whenever you want, like the two deckers in New York ). My SON would like to do a real studio tour, probably the Warner Brothers' tour I think is the best.

What would be people's recommendation for getting the MOST out of a one day ( with a possible second EVENING ) tour of Hollywood and/or Los Angeles?

This looks quite doable. There are bus tours with on/off stops. I haven't used one myself but people are sure to report what company they went with. Hollywood isn't huge so things are relativly close to each other, you could see Warner on the same day. Univeral will take all day but during your timeframe I'm not sure what the hours will be. A lot depends on what day of the week you do it. 2 days should work fine, even without the second evening.
