for dinner when we go to see the Osborne Lights in DHS? I figured the boat would make it easy enough to get to DHS if we ate at Le chefs but, HBD sounds good as well. Which would you choose? It will be our first trip....

We haven't been to the Brown Derby, but we went to Le Chefs during our last trip in January. It was good...not great, but good. The best thing about it was seeing Remy. It isn't worth a special trip when you're already going to be in the Studios where the Brown Derby is.

I have learned through my past WDW trips that:

1. No restaurant is so incredibly fabulous that a special trip must be made.
2. There are always good options in the area where you will already be touring.
3. My time and energy level are valuable at WDW, and I'd rather not spend them going to/from restaurants.
4. It cuts down on my family's frustration level if I can plan our meals around our park plans instead of jumping around so much.

Just my opinion, but this works for us.

Great advice for our family!! Thanks!:goodvibes

We really liked Brown Derby a few weeks ago. I would stay at the park and eat there instead of loosing time travelling to a resort to eat

:thumbsup2 We've eaten at the Brown Derby and it was good. We've eaten at Les Chefs de France and it was good. You can't lose with either restaurant. But if it were me, I would stay at DHS and eat there. Just the logistics of going back and forth when you really don't have to. Another restaurant at DHS that comes recommended by DISers is Mama Melrose. We haven't eaten there yet. We have an ADR for our upcoming trip. But, it is right near the Streets of America/Osborne Lights.

Have a magical trip! :wizard:

Les Chefs is the one restaurant in all of Disney I will not return to. The service was awful, and the food was like slop from a frozen boxed dinner.

HBD, on the other hand, is quite good. So I would definitely go there - much easier if you're at DHS anyway.

While we like Le Chefs de France for lunch, dinner there is a different story.

Are you looking for a nice meal? Rather than picking an in-park restaurant, how about considering one of the places along the BoardWalk or in the Swan/Dolphin? Perhaps Il Mullino?

You didn't say if you were on the dining plan - if you are, you should note that Chefs is a 1 credit meal, while Brown Derby is 2.

We're not on the dining plan, and Brown Derby is one I always go back to. We've had great food & great service there. I wouldn't make a special trip, but if you're already at DHS, it'd be a shame to pass it up.

TOTALLY AGREE! :thumbsup2

I think Brown Derby would be an excellent choice, as long as you know that it is 2 TS credits (if you are on the DDP). If you don't want to spend that much for dinner, I would strongly recommend one of the other DHS TS restaurants (except H&V) vs leaving the park, for the reasons stated above.

Definitely Le Chefs de France. When we went in September Remy wasn't there, and I am going to continue to go to this restaurant until I meet Remy!!!!

Also the Creme Brulee is fantastic.
