Out of all our trips, we've never been. Menu looks ok, but how is the food? Atmosphere (i.e., park clothes ok? we don't want to have to go back to resort after park day, but we dont expect to be in torn shorts/shirts and flip flops and be sweaty smelly messes ;)). If on the DxDp can we add the "enhancements" to our meal?

You can add an enhancement at any property restaurant that offers but expect to pay for it whether on or off a dining plan.

Apparently I've been on a drug for a bit and need a new one (with apologies to Huey Lewis + the News;)).
Been dreaming about having another bowl of crab corn soup but HBD doesn't offer that:rotfl2:.
It's the Zellwood corn bisque and it's soooo good you can imagine crab meat is in it;).

Beef carpaccio must not be shabby since nobody shared it with me.
The Cobb salad can be a vegetarian's delight yet meat can be added if you like.
I had the pork chop for Christmas dinner and would have enjoyed it more if there weren't service issues that day. That form of service issue solved for all time (rushed) but the taste needs to be wiped away with another holiday meal.
The dessert trio made us happy when it included the grapefruit cake and some sort of flavoured brûlée. I didn't care for the berry cobbler but DGD did and gobbled it up.

We ate there the first time as walk ins but were dressed fine for the place: the man wore a polo shirt and cargo shorts, I wore my anytime travel uniform of a t shirt dress and we didn't look out of place. I also wore the biggest straw hat you ever saw but I just count that as a statement jewelry substitute and pay nooo attention to the man's sighs. If he doesn't know me by now- well we all know the rest.

No experience with the dining plan but I find the food to be excellent. Park clothes are definitely ok and the majority of people in the restaurant will be in them. The filet is one of the best I've had, the rolls with butter and Hawaiian sea salt are scrumptious, good wine list/cocktail program. Service has always been fantastic. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Couple of "extra" things on their lunch menu vs. dinner - a burger and a chicken sandwich.

@NYCgrrl do I have news for you! The corn soup is seasonal ... it's corn season ... and it's back!!!! Back on the menu in the last week or so (I love it too and am making a special trip next week - I'm local-ish). Not positive if it has the fritter - it has varied over the years but something I always make a trip for. So good!!

We haven't done it with the dining plan in several years. However, every year it is one that we repeat at HS. Very nice inside, a littel noisy at times. Food and service were very good. Nice wine flights as options as well.
Have not had anything bad off the menu.

If I could like this 1000 times I would!:cool2:

We enjoy HBD. It is really the better option in the Park. Enhancements are never included on any dp, so you would have pay oop.

We’ve had great food there, but service was not good on our last visit. Our waiter disappeared for 30+ minutes and we finally had to flag down a manager wondering what had happened to our order. It was very odd. We’ll give them another chance sometime, but are skipping it on our next trip.

Has anyone had a meal at the BD lounge? The menu looks like they serve the cobb salad and the dessert trio -- that and a drink and I'd be darn happy. I didn't want to make an ADR at the BD restaurant, but thought maybe we could lunch in the lounge if same day or walk ups are possible.

ETA: our trip is 9 days in early December, if that makes a difference...

I've dined in both the restaurant and the lounge. I love both-- the lounge affords some fun people watching and doesn't require an ADR. Menus are unique to each (i.e. can't order off restaurant menu in lounge or vice versa) but are some carry-overs like the Cobb Salad. Lounge seats are first come first serve - I've seen it managed with a hostess and also true first come/grab. I much prefer with a hostess adding some order. If you plan to "rope drop" it or come later in the afternoon, chances are good you'll find a table. Prime lunch time, I think tables in the lounge are hard to come by. The other thing to keep in mind is that the lounge is open to the elements - rain, cold, etc.
