Hollywood and Vine vs. Mama Melrose

We want the do the Fantasmic Package - trying to decide between these 2. We have a reason for scheduling buffets: DS will be 1yo and has food allergies, since we will be on DDP he will eat off our plates or free off of buffets and we have been told that buffets have lots of allergy friendly choices. At a sit-down TS one of the adults would likely order as if they had his allergies to share with him.
Anyone have experiences at both?

We have dined at both and they are both horrible. I would go to 50's Prime Time instead

We enjoyed them both.

We ate at H&V a few times before Fantasmic because my girls were young and I liked doing buffets with them.

Then last year since my girls are older we tried MM and we all enjoyed it.

So, IMHO, you can't go wrong with either of them. If you feel the buffet would be better for your son then go for it.

Been to both multiple times and perfer Mama Melose. H&V is just an okay buffet IMHO

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I consider myself at least a bit discriminating, but I love H & V!

We have been to Mama Melrose's 4 times and have loved it each time.

H&V is one of our least favorite buffets but we went for lunch to see JoJo the Clown. I would skip it unless you really feel a buffet would be easier with the allergies.

I would be very careful though with a kid with allergies at a buffet because there tends to be cross-contamination of foods. Of course, it really does depend on what the allergy is. Good luck with your choices!!

We enjoyed Mama Melrose for the Fantasmic package in July, and we're returning there in about 4 weeks. Believe it or not, it was the first place DH requested when I asked everyone where to eat.

I have not been to H&V, but really didn't like MM.

And on that note, what is it with Disney restaurants and bleu cheese? It seems like everything we ate at a TS had bleu cheese. Yuck.

We liked the character breakfast at H & V in May . Read all the bad reviews but went fot Jo Jo and the charcter interaction was great and I enjoyed the food. Haven't tried lunch or supper.

We've eaten at both. Right now, my DS and DH love MM- they were very, very accomodating of my son's food's allergies. H and V's buffet is pretty good, not tons of selections, but most of what they offer is pretty good.

We have been in contact with some folks at Disney who "specialize" in helping families with allergy issues, including the executive chef at MK Foods.
They said that while most TS places can accomodate people with food allergies, there are often more choices on buffets and that the chef at each place will take you around, point out what is appropriate for you, you tell him/her what you would like, and they make a brand new batch to serve you from so that there is no cross contamination.

I would say do both, mind you I've been to neither, but will do H&V for Fantasmic in Sept. Do Mama Melrose for the package, but attend a Playhouse Disney character meal(B or L) at H&V. Those characters geared for your DS.

We ate at Hollywood and Vine last year and enjoyed it very much ! We can not figure the negative reviews (very picky eaters ) ...
As far as Mama Melrose goes, we are trying it on our upcoming trip. We are looking forward to it and hope we enjoy it also..
