I've heard terrible things about the experience and food at Holleywood & Vine. Any thoughts for those of you who have been there recently?

I had dinner there last Friday and it wasn't good at all. The pickings were slim and the chicken I tried was tasteless and undercooked.

I never ate there but we have reservations to do so in two weeks. My research has shown that breakfast has higher reviews than for dinner. We are going solely for the Little Einsteins for my 4 year old daughter.

I know some people don't, but we like H & V. We have been to the Playhouse Disney lunch the past three years and would go back again. IMO, the food has always been fresh and tasty. Is it a "gourmet" buffet? No. It's a grab a plate, eat as much as you want, buffet. That said, I think that the selections are good. My favorites are the unusual salads, salmon and spoon bread. The desserts are good too. :thumbsup2

H & V is set up like an old-time cafeteria. It can be crowded and noisy. We have had good service but the waitstaff tends to seem busy. (If you know what to expect, you may enjoy it more.;) Also, check out the menu online and see if there are enough items you might like.

Have a nice trip :)

We ate there back in September, and really enjoyed it. Our reservation was the last breakfast seating, so we actually got to try both breakfast and lunch foods.

Character interaction was great, much better than at Crystal Palace, where it was so crowded not all of the characters made it over to our table. And the food was quite good. I'd go back again in a heartbeat.

we ate there in May 2008 with a Fantasmic dinner package. We enjoyed it very much, and will do it again one of these trips (working our way through all the restaurants!:) )

Yes, crowded, and yes, noisy. But the food was varied, good & plentiful. Service was good (yes, the wait people are busy, but our plates were cleared/drinks refilled, etc. if not immediately then definitely soon enough.) Messes were cleaned up immediately; the food was constantly being replenished. Was a mix of "plain" standard stick-to-your-ribs American-buffet style food as well as some more interesting combinations. Dessert station had some delicious choices.

If you're looking for gourmet buffet (which is kind of an oxymoron?) this is not it. I think that's part of the problem...people who are used to going to places like Golden Corral for $15 get to Disney and pay $22-27 for a buffet and think it should be twice as good. It's better than your usual buffet, but not haute cuisine.

Went to dinner there once, no way would we go back...from service to food the entire experience was bad

We were just there last week (11/12th) for breakfast. We thought it was fine. They had a lot of variety - the usual eggs, bacon, sausage, Mickey waffles - but also had chorizo & egg, tortillas, corn beef hash. My family enjoyed it. Our waiter was attentive & pleasant. The kids there (ours included) loved it as the characters would sing songs from Playhouse Disney - inlcuding the Hot Dog song from Mickey Mouse - and dance with the kids. They even did a parade around the diner with the kids. I didn't see one unhappy child or parent in the place.

I've not been for lunch/dinner - but we'd happily go back for breakfast. The food, atmosphere, service were all good.

Breakfast is ok (eaten there 4 times), dinner is dreadful (eaten there twice), lunch is unknown.

I am so glad I found this thread as I was wondering how dinner was at Hollywood & Vine. After reading these reviews, I think I'll look elsewhere.

We went with our two little ones and had a blast.

We went for lunch and the buffet was fine. It had all usual buffet foods and they were hot and filled regularly. The waitstaff was fine and did a good job of cleaning our table. They even brought out a birthday cupcake for my little one.

If your kids really love little einsteins then I would absolutely go there. While the food isnt top shelf gourmet, seeing your little ones get so excited about the characters makes it entirely worth it. The interaction is great and for one credit it is a wonderful character dining experience.

We are doing it again in March.

I really enjoyed it when we ate there in 07. However, DS wanted breakfast AND lunch. Both times were bad. There food was mediocre at best and barely even warm. DS requested it again for the next time but I just can't go back again. There's better character meals to be had.

It was the worst dining experience for my family. Bad service and tasteless food.

We went in Feb for lunch. I thought it was good as did my mom and my almost 3 yo DD. I'm a very picky eater and I found lots I liked and it was yummy.

We just booked it again for Feb 09 for lunch. My mom actually requested we go there again, LOL!

I really don't understand the hatred people have for Hollywood and Vine. We even liked it better than most of our table service dinners (Marrakesh, for instance, I've made better couscous from a box!). I went for dinner in 04 and we went for lunch a couple of days ago. We both found a large variety to choose from (which is difficult for me since I'm vegetarian, and am usually limited to one "choice" or getting sides and combining them into a meal). Both times I end up with vegetables from the kids' buffet, which I think helps to round it out. :thumbsup2
