Holiday World & Splashin' Safari!!!!!

Just got back from a great weekend in southern Indiana. We had never been to the park and it is now one of our favs. Free soft drinks, including fruit punch and lemonade, all over the park.

I understand why the Raven is the #1 wooden coaster....... fast with lots of air time. (That lady was crazy to be standing up.......)

The prices were unbelievably low, too. A bottle of water was $1.49. Fancy jester-type hats (similiar to the WDW $30 ones) were under $10. Their best T-shirt (good quality ones) were under $12. We had a lunch of 2 kids pizza meals, burgers and fries for 2 adult for $14.90....... total! Swim goggles were $2.19. We couldn't believe the food or merchandise prices.

The park was smaller than the Magic Kingdom but impeccably clean. We went through every part but the kiddie section, including 3.5 hours in the waterpark, all on Saturday. We spent 4 hours on Sunday, just doing our favs. Did both coasters over 6 times each.

They are running Pepsi can specials during the month of June. Different days give different discounts. Our 2-day tix were about $37, with the discount.

If you have never gone, do yourself a favor and go!

The worst part of the weekend was the trip home. We had gone on the Rapids ride about 2 hours before we left. We all got completely drenched and didn't quite dry out before we drove the 5 hours home. We had wet shoes and socks all over the van!


(no..... wait..... the worst part was getting thru Indianapolis around 5:30pm during a rainstorm with the Hyperfix traffic snarls......)

Glad you had a great time. We're heading up there from Florida while all "you'se guys" are heading down here .

We're planning on going to Holiday World and Indiana Beach.
We've become big fans of the classic, family run parks.

Some of the others we've visited are Knoebels (INCREDIBLE),
Lake Winniepausuaguhahffa? (Lake Winnie), and Hershey Park.

At Knoebels, there was no parking fee, no park entrance fee, purchased wristbands for my family of five for about what ONE adult Disney ticket cost. No lines, great ride operators, great food.

Steven, where's Knoebels?

MaryJ, I wish I lived as close as you do. I'd have a season pass with me at all times, ready to go when the whim hit me. We are a minimum of 4.5 hours driving time away, not counting the pit stops and food breaks.

Knoebels is near Elysberg PA. It's a family owned park located in the woods/little mountains of central PA.

Knoebels has two wooden coasters which are highly rated. One of the coasters (The Phoenix) constantly ranks in the top ten list of coaster enthusiasts.

Knoebels is very un-disney in a good way. The food is very good and inexpensive. You're not dumped out into a gift shop when you're through with an attraction. In fact, on their newest coaster, they do have on-ride photos available, and we had to really look for the place to see your picture.

While at the park, one of the little screws came out of my glasses. I went to the first aid/park office to see if they might have one. This man pulls out a box full of glasses they've found in the park over the years. He removes a screw, and I'm back in business. Turns out the guys name was Rick Knoebel and he runs the day to day operation of the park! try that at disney.

I've been to Knoebel's and it's on the list of my top 5 favorite parks. I hope I can visit Holiday World soon, probably during Stark Raven Mad next year!
