Holiday Wish List 2012

Hmmmm.

a 70-200 F/2.8 IS II (probably not going to happen, but if you don't put it on the list it will never happen)

a gift certificate to a workshop or class

a studio lighting kit starter kit

I must have been extra good this year as Santa has brought my presents early (I found out that Santa is a good arbitrage shopper at the best of times).

Well, I took the 70 - 200 mm f/2.8 IS II off the table this year. Not that I didn't hanker after it, I decided it was too heavy for me. So, I've ended up with the 70 - 200 f/4.0 IS instead.

On my wish list....

  • Post Processing Program (or two)
  • i-Pad

I'd also like a full frame camera; but I don't think that's going to happen for quite a while.

And despite protestations from me....DH also decided that I "needed" something else and he's gotten me another gold charm for a bracelet.
I think I could have used that money for a lens in the 35 mm range instead. :lmao:

I would like an Olympus EM5 OMD mirrorless (but I don't think that's going to happen, either!). :lmao:

Simple wants.... just a basic 2.8 "kit" lens... Maybe the Tamron 17-50/f2.8...

Though I wouldn't object to the Carl Zeiss 24-70/f2.8

I'd settle for the Zeiss 16-80 f3.5-4.5.... It may not be 2.8... but I suspect the optics, the sharpness.. would make up for it.

I'm longing after the Nikon 24-70/F2.8
Since I have to actually give the cash required to my 10 year old to go buy me a present however, this is possibly going to be a chargeable gift to me on my credit card .... next Christmas!

A camera bag that holds a tripod - and I mean one designed to hold a tripod - is also on my wish list. Perhaps I can get that for myself for my birthday.

Editing software - looking at the OnOne Photo Suite at the moment and that is more likely to happen as I think I've worked hard at learning and practising with my photography this year - and my pictures deserve a gift ::yes::

Realistically my birthday / Christmas list this year is a tripod, ball head, flash stand, crumpler sling, 2x sandisk extreme pro cards and a camera bag.

Now - if I was to branch out into a true wish list then I'd add a 70-200 f2.8 and then high end zeiss and g lenses to replace my current minolta lenses.

Oh yes - and an alarm clock to make sure I wake up from all the dreaming :rotfl2:

I can't tell you the number of times I've been on the Canon USA web site over the past few months looking at the 5D Mark III. sigh

I've also noticed that the 5D price tag is pretty close to what others are asking on Craig's List for the Suzuki motorcycle I own. So now it's come down to a question of which I want more... to keep my motorcycle, or to own a full frame camera.

Glad I'm not the only one who goes through the selling dilemma!!
