its that time again. i'd like to get holiday pictures taken early this year. anyone have any coupons or recommendations on where to have holiday pictures taken. thanks

Do you or a friend have a digital camera?

We started taking our own at home and then uploading them to Walmart and having different size prints done. Way cheaper and more convienent.

Last year, we did it spur of the moment right after we set up the christmas tree. Everyone sat in front of the tree, I set the timer (first time I ever used it) on the camera and tried to take my place.

First shot was everyone looking everywhere and my butt toward the camera
2nd shot was the keeper. We even did a several different poses and that 2nd shot was perfect.

We printed 4x6 photos to put in all of our xmas cards and a 11x14 (i think) for above our fireplace.

If you have a Walgreens in the area check with them. Ours is doing pictures with Santa for 7.99. This includes 3 8x10's, 4 5x7's, I think 16 4x6's and 20 wallets.

Just an FYI...we used to go to JC Penney also. This is not considered early! Every year we've gone to a picture studio in November, it has been a zoo. Long waits and tired, whiny kids. The woman at Penney's told us that you should go in October!

I would agree to try doing them yourself, but if you go to a studio, try to get the 1st morning appointment. Good luck!

Sears has some great coupons on line. Ours, at least, does a really good job. We however went last week and DGS refused to even walk into the sesson area so we will have my camera taken photos in front of our tree AGAIN this year!!!

Have you considered getting a group together and having a beginning or part-time photograper do mini-sessions for a day? My friend does this every year for us. Usually over 2 four hour days, 8 families a day get a 20-30 min. private session at a local park. The photographer gets $50 per family, prepaid. About a week after the session each family gets a CD of the unedited pictures with full reprinting rights. The CD's are picked up and distributed by the main family so that we do not have to pay shipping costs. The photographer usually offers a special deal to edit any photo's for $10-30 dollars a picture, if the family would like that option. Usually each family will have between 3-5 great pictures. Some of just the kids, family, and couple are taken. In my area private sessions such as these cost $200 and up just for the sitting fee.

Jcpenney's is our favorite. we go before thanksgiving every year or the week after.. Last year they took a awesome pic of the kids- I ended up getting the package for $8.99 including sitting fee for my cards and bought a 16x20 enhanced photo for $15.00 and a beautiful frame that was 50% for $25..

I've been very very happy with Target for the annual formal portrait of the boys.

But if you want a photo with Santa look for the nearest Bass Pro Shops. They do a really nice one. They were adverstising a free photo. Last year we got a 5x7 for free and of course, extra for extra photos, but I'm happy with just the one. There was no line either.
