Holiday music starts on Sirius/XM....

that's the one thing i miss since we cancelled our sirius

A specific station, or what? Ours will end soon because it came with the car for 6 mos, but I'll enjoy it while it lasts!

I know. It's too soon.

And they're taking away my 40's music because of the Christmas music. :sad1:

Christmas music shouldn't start until the day AFTER Thanksgiving.

FIVE channels of holiday music? Wow - that's a lot. I think they should have left the 40's alone and settled for four channels of holiday music. The press release says XM4 will be back to normal after the holidays.

NEW YORK -- Sirius XM Radio announced five holiday themed channels this week to begin broadcasting on the satellite radio service as well as on DirecTV and Dish Network as early as Nov. 16.

As in past years, the holiday programming will feature traditional holiday songs, classical Christmas carols, Hanukkah music, country Christmas hits and contemporary festive music.

Holly (Sirius channel 3, XM channel 23, DirecTV channel 819 and Dish channel 8003) will feature contemporary holiday music as well as traditional favorites, including songs by John Mayer, Colbie Caillat, Josh Groban and Michael Buble. It airs Nov. 16 through Dec. 31.

Holiday Traditions (Sirius 4, XM 4, DirecTV 801 and Dish 8004) will feature traditional holiday recordings from the '40s through the '60s by artists such as Bing Crosby, Andy Williams, Ray Conniff and Nat "King" Cole. It airs Nov. 16 through Christmas Day.

Holiday Pops (Sirius 79, XM 77, DirecTV 866 and Dish 6079) will feature classical Christmas carols sung by the greatest classical musicians of all-time, including the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Luciano Pavarotti, Boston Pops and Leontyne Price. It begins airing Dec. 7 and runs through Christmas Day.

Country Christmas (Sirius 62, XM 10, DirecTV 808 and Dish 6062) will feature a wide-ranging assortment of country Christmas music, including Garth Brooks, Carrie Underwood and Kenny Rogers. It also airs Dec. 7 through Dec. 25.

Radio Hanukkah (Sirius 76, XM 28, DirecTV 820 and Dish 6076) will feature an extensive collection of Hanukkah music and special segments celebrating Jewish culture, including Jewish community leaders, prominent artists and various celebrities sharing personal stories and memories about the holiday season.

Radio Hanukkah will also feature a live broadcast of the lighting of the National Menorah on the Ellipse in front of the White House. Radio Hanukkah airs Dec. 7 through Dec. 19.

The holiday music channels will replace several existing channels during the period. Those channels will return after the holiday channels complete their run. The channels affected are Sirius XM Love, 40s on 4, Sirius XM Pops, The Roadhouse and Escape.

I love the Xmas music, and I am glad its back.

BUT. They are taking away my 40's channel AND my Pops channel! Between those two, and Spa, that's about all I listen to! (Maybe a little Hair Band radio thrown in when I get A Wild Hair...:upsidedow )

I wish they would put the Xmas music on one of the channels that has nothing on it anyway. There are lots of blank stations.

They're putting Christmas music on the Escape channel too? Geez, thanks a lot! :sad1:

don't you like christmas music?

I am usually excited when they announce the Christmas channels, but I'm really unhappy to be losing the 40s on 4. :sad1: I emailed them the other day to say that if the 40s channel doesn't come back after Christmas I'll be canceling my subscription, since that's what I listen to 90% of the time. I know they say it will return, but there have been a couple of channels in the past that did not return after being preempted, so I've been a little bit concerned about that.

I'm also sorry they aren't bringing backing "Special Xmas". They dropped it last year but I was really hoping it would come back this year. That was the channel that played the weird and novelty Christmas songs, and I really liked it. I do enjoy Holly, Pops and Traditions, though.

Personally, I think it would be more fun if they just combined ALL the holiday music into one station. Then you'd have more variety and wouldn't have to switch back and forth and decide what "type" of holiday music you'd like to listen to right now. It would also mean songs would be repeated less frequently, so you could listen to it a lot (like I do!) and not gripe about hearing "The Christmas Song" by Nat King Cole for the ten thousandth time in three days! ;)

I noticed that the 40's channel was back to normal.

I think that two or three channels would have been enough, and combining the formats would make for a longer playlist and fewer repeats too.

As far as combining all those channels into one Christmas channel, some dont have every single channel. I know I dont. I have the lowest amount of channel packages. So what if you put it all one channel that someone didnt have?

My favorite channel was the Holidays Pop channel :thumbsup2
