holiday movie reviews

I think that's the first bad review I've heard of Princess and the Frog. She didn't say anything specific?

She did not volunteer anything specific but I believe the below poster is correct in that the voodoo part did creep her out.

my dd10 didn't like the voodoo throughout the movie. she said it was creepy...maybe the pp's daughter felt the same way??

i think it's odd that nobody else has a problem with voodoo in a kids movie
:confused3

Eh. Is it really that different from an evil queen with magical powers or an octopus who makes magic potions? Or good and evil genies?

I guess I don't really see the difference, which is why it doesn't bug me.

I saw It's Complicated. Very, Very funny but I did not like the ending- that's all I will say since I don't want to add Spoilers.

My husband and I are going tomorrow night to see It's Complicated. From the previews and reviews, it looks like a really good movie. Now I'm curious about the ending!:)

Yeah, that was my thought, too. There is all kinds of "bad magic" in fairy tales!

We saw Sherlock Holmes yesterday and Nine today -- loved them both. Next up for us are Up in the Air, Invictus and Avatar.

Saw Avatar yesterday in 3-D. Yes the storyline and dialogue were cliche but I was blown away by the movie itself. The special effects are really something and the movie itself is just beautiful. I loved it so much I bought the soundtrack today because the music is beautiful.

Definitely want to see it again.

I've seen three movies this holiday season

1. 2012 - Your typical "end of the world/special effects" action movie. It was okay, not as good as Independence Day. The climax on the arks felt a bit long. It did have John Cusack though. I have been a fan of his ever since the American classic "Better Off Dead".

2. The Road - Very dark and bleak movie. If you have read the novel, don't worry. They did not ruin it. This movie is very good. The acting was excellent. The look of the film was perfect for the story. It was very sad, although it did have a bit of a hopeful ending.

3. Avatar - See this movie. It takes everything to another level. The story may not be original, but it has never been told in such an entertaining way. The 3-D and special effects were like nothing I have ever seen before. This is one movie that I would pay to see again in the theaters.

We saw Avatar in digital 3D last night. LOOOOOOVED it!! Sure it's an old story, but what can you do? I like Sam Worthington a lot and thought his character in Avatar was great, Giovanni Ribisi is one of my favorite actors, loved him in this one too!

Tonight we are going to see Princess & the Frog, we are looking forward to it! :)

I took the kids to see The Princess and the Frog LOVED it:lovestruc

It was much less disturbing to me than Scar killing Mufasa or Bambie's mother being shot. (I'm assuming these aren't considered spoilers...LOL)

Just got back from It's Complicated. The movie was pretty funny!

We saw Avatar in 3D - it was not "our type of movie" for 2 out of 3 of us and were all mesmerized the entire movie. I cringed at the length going in but really didn't get restless like I usually do in movies. It was beautiful - I actually sobbed through part of it  I do agree that it is a "blue Pocahontas" - love that description!

I'm dyyyyyyyyyying to see Nine but it hasn't gotten much press, it seems?

We saw Alvin and the Chipmunks The squeakeul. I thought it was boring but my 4 year old really liked it. Of course, he has watched the first one a million times:rolleyes:
Hoping to see Princess and the Frog soon and we are seeinf New moon this weekend again on base.

Dh and I saw Avatar 3D on opening weekend. I liked it, he loved it. He is going again tomorrow to see it at the IMAX with the kids. We also saw It's Complicated. We both loved it...It was so funny. I am also very curious why one of the posters to this thread said they didnt like the ending. :confused3

DD and her family went to see the Chipmunk movie today and she didnt like it at all...the kids were ok with it.

I saw Avatar in 3D:3dglasses sunday. The special effects were as amazing as everyone has said. However, amazing cgi does not make up for lackluster acting. The one phrase I heard many times before seeing the movie is that it was "the movie that James Cameron waited twenty years to make". I think he should have waited a few more. :rolleyes1

It could of been worse. Look what happened to the Star Wars prequels that George Lucas made us wait twenty years for. Jar Jar Binks, anyone?

Wow! I am surprised that there are not more Blind Side reviews! It is still selling out here.

Hubby and I saw it yesterday and I have to tell you, it is seriously the best movie I've seen in quite a while. Sandra Bullock has never been my favorite actress, although I have always believed she is a brilliant business woman. Oh, and she married who she married ;). Love him!

However, she was BRILLIANT in this movie. The kid who plays SJ will be a star, for sure. BRILLIANT, BRILLIANT, BRILLIANT movie. My husband couldn't care less about sports, does not even know what first down means. I, on the other hand, am an ACC junkie so I love love love College Basketball, Football, and any other competitive sport I can find. This movie was so good that my hubby wants to watch football this weekend, just so he can find Michael!!!

The fact that this is a true story, and recent, amazes me! The pictures at the end of the real family are awesome!

I left the theater with hope for mankind. I swear. Cheesey, but it was that good!!!!:flower3::flower3:
