I have been promising myself I was going to the movies for the past 2 weeks.
My son and I have been trying to see AVATAR in 3d at Imax theater for 3 days now and it is totally sold out...hopefully we will get to see that next week. anyone seen and have a review?

Today I saw Blinde Side...omg..loved it loved it loved it...Sandra Bullock looked fantastic and her outfits were to die for..yes I am going on a diet tomorrow, But the movie held your attention, was heartfelt and liked that it was a true story. I really enjoyed seeing the actual people in photographs at the end of the film.
also seen INVICTUS...hoped I spelled that right.....
liked this as well.....I will say that I was moved to tears when you actually veiwed the cell that Nelson Mandelas was forced to live in for 22 years.

This movie makes you stop and think how very lucky you are.

okay all you movie buffs...what have you seen this holiday season?
How was Princess and the Frog?

Love to hear

okay...so want to hear what you seen and your movie review this holiday season

We saw Avatar Christmas morning in 3d and it was absolutely amazing. I think we may go see it again.

Oldest son and his wife saw Sherlock Holmes today and said it was "okay".

I saw Boondock Saints 2: All Saints Day and loved it. Its one of those you have to be ready for the blood and guns but a good plotline.

I saw avatar last night an was bored silly through most of it. Yes it was gorgeous, but the dialogue was cheesy, the plot totally predictable and pretty much a ripoff of Dances with Wolves but wuth blue people instead of native americans....

Today I had a triple feature, spent alllll day in a movie theater. Started with It's Complicated (really really funny), then Sherlock Holmes (not quite as good as expected, but good) and finished with Up in the Air(great supporting characters, but george clooney being george clooney).

I've seen Up in the Air and The Princess and the Frog.

LOVED Princess and the Frog, it was exactly what I had hoped it would be.:goodvibes

I was a tiny bit disappointed with Up in the Air but I did still enjoy it. I loved Anna Kendrick's character but I'm really not a huge George Clooney fan.

We saw Avatar......while not the most original plot, we really liked it and it was gorgeous.

Christmas Day we saw Did You Hear About the Morgan's? Cute, predictible, the kid DD loves.

We will see Princess and the Frog when we get home......probably next weekend.

Not sure about Sherlock Holmes. I was excited at first......Love Sherlock books and the Basil Rathbone movies. Seeing the previews, it just didn't seem like a Sherlock Holmes movie, so I may skip it.

We saw Avatar in Imax 3-D. The effects were remarkable and well worth the price of the movie (and then some!) But I do agree about the storyline. It hung together but was very predictable. My DD called it "Blue Pocahantas" :rotfl: - if you've seen it you'll know why.

Movies I've seen in the past week or so (not sure what makes one a "holiday" movie vs the others, so I just listed them all):
  • Princess and the Frog... A++
  • Armored... B+
  • Invictus... A
  • An Education... F
  • Avatar... B+
  • Sherlock Holmes... A

I like going to the movies... LOL.

Out of everything I've seen lately, Princess and the Frog was by far my absolute favorite.

Sherlock was excellent and I have a thread about it here.

I loved the visual imagery in Avatar. Like others have mentioned, the story was a little bit lacking, but I really enjoyed it. I saw this yesterday and the theater was packed. Not everyone enjoyed it though because the person sitting two seats over from me fell asleep... and was snoring the entire time! I'm always surprised by Giovanni Ribisi. Even though his role was relatively small, he has an incredible range. No Frank Jr antics here. LOL. (I saw the regular version; not the 3D one).

I have a hard time ranking Armored so high based on the other stuff I saw because it's kind of hard to compare the different genres, but I really enjoyed it. It's certainly not winning any awards but it was fun.

Invictus was good and Morgan Freeman was excellent as Nelson Mandela. I've never seen a sports movie that I didn't like!

And then we have An Education. I walked out halfway through. I wanted to see it because everyone has been raving about the actress, blah blah blah. Her character was beyond annoying and I didn't realize how young the character was supposed to be. (And yes, that's very important!) I wound up reading the synopsis from the movie spoiler site and I'm glad I didn't waste any more time on it. Horrible movie.

We saw Avatar 3D. For me it was a 3 star movie(out of 5) but I'm deducting 1/2 star for being too long.

Sherlock Holmes was awesome- a very fun movie!:thumbsup2

Saw The Princess and The Frog last night. Terrific! Surprised at some of the particular plot points, but overall really enjoyable. GREAT music in there!

we saw avatar and loved it
i didn't like all the voodoo in the princess and the frog. it was a cute movie, if you don't mind voodoo. i can't get past that....

I saw Sherlock Holmes today and really liked it! At first I had a hard time understanding Robert Downey Jr. but really got into it after a little while. I know they set it up for a sequel and I hope it does well because this is the type of film where I bet the sequel will be better than the original.

Saw Princess and the Frog yesterday and thought it was really good. Loved the music! Just got back from It's Complicated. Any movie that can make me LOL is sure to become an all time favorite.

I really liked Up In the Air, but it's a little heavier than a traditional comedy, so someone looking for light holiday fun might want to check out something else.

That being said, I thought it was a very well made movie and it gave me a lot to think about. I was very excited to see it and it didn't let me down!

My whole family went to the movies last night but we saw different movies.
I saw It's Complicated. Very, Very funny but I did not like the ending- that's all I will say since I don't want to add Spoilers.
DD 10 went to see The Princess and the Frog and hated it. Since it surprised us she hated it so much, we asked her why she hated it and she just says it was terrible. :confused3
Others saw Sherlock Holmes and said they loved it.

I think that's the first bad review I've heard of Princess and the Frog. She didn't say anything specific?

my dd10 didn't like the voodoo throughout the movie. she said it was creepy...maybe the pp's daughter felt the same way??
