Well, before I went on my trip I had read some mixed reports about HI Sunspree, so by the time I was on the shuttle from the airport, my stomach was in knots of worry! (I was the one who had booked for ourselves and another family). Anyway, I just wanted to say that everything was great !:Pinkbounc

Unlike others on these boards, I knew before going that the 'kids room' was actually a partition rather than a separate room. Our kids are 4 & 6, so this suited us fine - we were able to keep an eye on them without them realising it! They had their own tv / video / nintendo, with bunk beds and a day bed. Our own bed was huge, and probably the most comfortable 'hotel bed' we've ever slept in! Our kitchenette was basic - sink, microwave and fridge, coffee maker - but ideal for what we wanted. Two packs of coffee were delivered every day. The only fault we found with the kitchenette was that we had to go and buy mugs, bowls & cutlery, as these weren't supplied. (OK, the cutlery came from Wendys across the road, and the mugs and bowls were 2/$1 at Walgreens!) :p The room was cleaned everyday, and the towels changed. One day when DH was in the room when the maid called, he told her not to bother cleaning it that day. She got him to sign a 'release form' - and this was followed up by a visit from her Supervisor to double check that we were happy not to have the room cleaned that day. The pool was great - the kids loved it. (Also have a babies pool and two hot tubs). The staff were very friendly - but we did have a problem with the people working at the 'guest relations' desk. This is where we booked the shuttle for the parks, and each time we tried to book it we were subjected to a timeshare sales pitch. I observed their treatment of other guests too, and thought they were very rude. I think these people are not actually employed by HI, but maybe I'm wrong about that. Apart from these people, the rest of the staff were very nice - especially the people who were looking after the kids. Kids movies played in a little cinema all day long and only stopped at 7pm when the kids bingo started - followed by kids karakoe! 'Max' the hotel's mascot did regular 'walkabouts' in the hotel, and the kids were always thrilled to see him.

So, as you can see, overall we were very happy with our stay at HI Sunspree. If anyone has any more questions, I'll be happy to answer them.
