°o° The new Holiday Inn Hotel in the Walt Disney World Resort, next to the Downtown Disney Marketplace, is offering a $57-a-night deal for the first lucky families to book it. The special rate is good from the hotel’s opening date of November 15 to December 21, with no minimum stay required. Once the special rates are gone rate is $110.00

Thanks for the info. I was able to book two nights at $67.00 per night, because I wanted 2 queen beds. This is for our last two nights after 1 week in a condo and 1 night in a 2 bedroom at AKV. Our party is splitting up, so there will only be 3 of us. Anyway, thanks again.

I booked the breakfast included rate of $68.40 per night, $76.95 including tax. They also charge an $8.00 per night parking fee. Still a good price for December. DH loves a hot breakfast before starting his day.

Just to add some info to this since we spent a lot of time going back and forth with the reservation desk.

57 and 67 dollar rooms will be on the lower floors with either a pool or parking lot view.

We ended up with a $97 Downtown Disney View on the upper floors. Wanted to be able to see fireworks and be up away from the street noise.

There is also an $8 a day parking fee.

Just a little FYI. We booked for the first 5 days their open. Kinda neat being the first in a room ! :)

Okay, this is kinda worrisome. On Mousesavers they mention that this hotel has previously announced opening dates and didn't make it :(

I would have a back up hotel in order just in case. We have ressies at the POFQ and will keep them up to the must cancel date just to make sure we'll have a room at the inn. Was wondering if hotels didn't make those opening dates...not too thrilled to learn this info.

Maybe they offer to move you to another one of their properties. I don't know for sure.

the last time they offered you the sheraton safari which is out by olive garden on the main road at the end of hotel blvd. We were some of those people that booked their last reopening special, which I believe was like 3 years ago

How far out did they notify you that you wouldn't have a room? Definately keeping our other reservations to the very end then at pofq.

Has anyone been over there recently? (local disboarders ;) ) Is this thing looking on schedule? I know mousesavers was talking about a May or June opening and at that point the lobby was gutted. Wouldn't think they would start doing reservations and not be anticipating opening.

Wouldn't think they would start doing reservations and not be anticipating opening.

They have previously taken reservations, announced very specific opening dates, and then have not opened. At least six different opening dates have been "officially" announced since they closed in 2004.

When I drove by there in May, the bottom floor was completely gutted out and open to the elements, and no work appeared to be going on.

Get a backup plan in place, that's all I'm saying!

There will b no parking fee, but them finishing on time is kinda worrisome, I have a reservation for 11/20/09 for 12 nights, hope they finish in time.

When i drove bye there yesterday ....Well all i can say is they have a lot of work to be done on that property if they are going to open ....Have a back up plan...

Thanks for the update :) Now I know it will likely be the POFQ and can start making some plans. I plan to complain to Holiday Inn in November about this if they don't open. I don't think it right that they been booking people and then "oh we're not going to open". Not very cool. Not that they care. We've had one bad run with HI before and didn't get anywhere.

This is why I booked two nights during their 2nd month. If they don't open in November, then I can cancel and book somewhere else. I don't think I would book my entire vacation there, because of their history. If I can get a good deal for two non-park days, I will try them.

Thought I'd pass this along. Emailed the hotel concerning the opening date just to see what they would say.

"Thank you for inquiring about the hotels opening date.
At this point in time our construction company and owners have instructed us to sell November 15 and later dates. The projection is we will open before that but I am not selling any earlier at this time.
There were previous owners and firms involved with this hotel, I cannot speak for what they tried to do. Things are moving along rapidly at the site. I hope to have update construction images at our Blog next week."

So I'll feel better if they do open a bit earlier than planned. But not holding my breath either.

Here's the blogspot he mentioned.

Hope they open as scheduled - I've booked 12/19 - 12/22 as I've never seen Disneyworld decorated for the holidays before:banana: and the budget's tight after putting a transmission in the car this summer. If not, oh well, I'll pick somewhere else off property.
