Hi everyone!

Well, it's that time again to pick a hotel for 1 nights stay on our drive down to WDW. We have done this drive 5 times and I still haven't found a hotel off of I95 that has consistantly been decent.
I've been checking the website with lodging and exit info for I95 and a couple look promising. Particularly the Holiday Inn in Santee, SC. It states it has been remodeled in 2001. I had a horrible stay at a Holiday Inn a few years back and can't remember if it is the same place!! Anyone been here recently?

How about any other reccomendations for a hotel in that area off of I95 that is clean, safe and maybe recently remodeled? We will be with our kids DD 5yo and DS 8mo. We will be arriving late and leaving early, but it has to be CLEAN!!!

When we have stopped in Santee, SC, we have stayed at Clark's (1-800-531-9658). It is right off I95. The motel has been clean each time we have stayed there. We usually get a coupon in the booklet at the SC Welcome Center. In front of the motel is Clark's Restaurant. We have had both breakfasts & dinners here. Also, a new bbq place opened at the same exit - Maurice's BBQ. If you like bbq, then I highly recommend it.

As a side note - I would definitely stay away from the Hampton Inn in Florence on US 52. We like many of the Hampton Inns along I95 except this one.

You are scaring me! We have ressie for Hampton Inn in Santee, on Old Hwy # 6, I think this is near Clarks. Have you stayed there and this is not the one you speak so badly of, is it?

We stayed at the Hampton Inn in Santee off Old Highway 6- It was brand new and clean. Not much to eat in the area, tho, the Shoney's was gross and dirty.

We have had good luck with Country Inn and Suites. I have stayed at 4 different ones right off I95 and liked them all.
I believe we did stay at the one in Santee last year but I
am not positive.

You can check out their site for more info:

Have a great trip...

We also stayed at the Hampton Inn in Santee last year and thought it really nice. I was surprised it was so clean, new, and more upscale then any other Hampton Inn I've stayed at. They also have the best free breakfast buffet we have ever been to. Normally we just grab a cup of coffee and leave those nasty freebie buffets but this one was great. They had a coffee bar with all kinds of gourmet coffees, tasty hot foods, lots of fruits, cereals, muffins, donuts, ect, We were shocked that they did not charge for it as we would have gladly paid. I highly recommend this Hampton Inn!:D

Relax, Tink :)! I believe my reply mentioned the Hamptron Inn in FLORENCE, SC at US Route 52, not the Hampton Inn in Santee.

As for food in the Santee area (I95 exit 98 - south of Lake Marion) we have had breakfasts & dinners at Clark's Restaurant. We also stopped twice at the relatively new (May 2003) Maurice's bbq & enjoyed their all you can eat buffet.

O.K. because of this post I know have two ressies for Santee. SC.
I think I'll post a trend and see which one to cancel.
I have the Days inn for $34.00 a night which I couldn't believe.
Now I booked the Hampton inn for $70. Because I liked the breakfast buffet.
Anyone have an opinion or stay at either place.

We just stayed at the Best Western in Santee. Unplanned, as we usually get down to Brunswick, Ga. that first day. But Isabelle and no electricity on I-95 caused us some delay.
Anyway--it was a nice, clean and quiet spot.
