we are staying at the holiday inn on i-drive do you have any views or have you stayed at this hotel. thanks.

Yup I've stayed here in 1998 and 2001 and I loved it. ONe time I was in a block round the corner near the Car Park and that was fine and dandy, nice room and that but when I came back in 2001 I stayed in the Tower and WOWser our room was huge!!! I had requested a King Bed and we got a sofa as well and I didn't ahve to pay anymore for it - it was lovely.

I've always loved the service at this hotel from the check-in to room service to guest services. You can eat at the hotel but personally I don't think it's worth it unless it pouring down with rain and lets hope that doesn't happen ;)

The pool is great and a nice temperature and I like the pool bar snacks that they do. Good Spa (hot tub) as well.

The hotel has a bar and I've spent one evening in here but it's not really my thing when I'm holiday unless I'm with a good group(I think it stems from being a publican's daughter, you know busman's holiday and all that). But when I was in there I know a lot of Brits were there and they seemed to be having a good time. Also the pool is open late so if it's a warm night you can have a swim or the kids can whilst you sit outside with your drinks from the bar.

Good lite-bite deli type place - does the job for me.

Across the street you have Sizzler and Ponderosa - great deals on breakkies and buffet meals and then you have some other great restaurants all around you really.

Anyway for staying off-site I think that this is a great location and a great place to stay.

Forgot to add that if there's anything else you want to know then post away :)

I'm staying there as well in September. Would you recommend a tower room then ?

Also our daughter will be just short of 2 years old, so are there decent movie channels (- ie pay per view) in the rooms ? as we will be spending most nights in there.

Hi Kev

I just got back today from the Holiday Inn I Drive. I can without a doubt tell you it's a great hotel. It's a Virgin Flagship Hotel which means free newspapers and discounts in the on site shop (which is a tad expensive but handy). If you are not driving (and even if you are are) the shuttle buses to Universal and Seaworld are excellent and always on time, the Disney buses also are to be recommended. I would recommend asking for a Tower Room though, they are massive, the noise from the freeway can be a bit off-putting, but then the resort rooms are lower level so I would imagine it would be worse in these!

Oh well off to get some sleeps now (only got about an hour on the plane). Enjoy your holiday and if you want to know anymore just shout.

Thanks for the info Sam & Vamp. I am staying there in May & was hoping you could answer a couple of questions for me.

What sort of times do the Shuttle buses go to & from WDW?

Did you request a Tower room before you went or where you given the option when you arrived?

On our last day our flight doesn't leave until 8.25PM what time do you have to check out of the hotel & is there anywhere you can leave luggage so we can still enjoy our last day?

Chris

Hi Chris

The buses when we were there 2 weeks ago did leave at weird times. But I'm not sure what they are like "on season", there was a bus that went to the Ticket and Transportation Centre at 7.15 am (I guess this was for the Character Breakfast people), they then had later pick ups for MGM and Epcot (around 9.30 and 10.15 I believe). The buses were ALWAYS on time and I can't fault the service. The only thing is you need to book your seat the day before you want to travel by asking at reception for a "ticket". Of course once on disney property you can always use to the Disney buses to get from point to point.

We didn't actually request a tower room, but I think if you booked through virgin you will be allocated one anyway. But is best to check.

anymore questions please ask.

Opps Forgot!

Chris, our flight was at 8.45 (with Virgin) and we had to be on the Mears bus but 4.45 to transfer to the airport. We put our luggage in storage, and spent the day at IOA, basically we got an extra day on the holiday!

Vikki

Thanks Vikki

We've booked with Virgin so should be OK for a Tower Room and might well do the same on our last day & go to either IOA or Universal Studios.

Can't wait we are staying for 12 nights and plan to do all the theme parks. I've already booked a five day disney ticket & the five park flexticket.
