Hi! This hotel is showing up on Hotwire for $27 a night. My DH and I are thinking about a quick trip in early January and were wondering about this hotel. Anybody know anything about it? Good and bad? The price is awfully tempting, but I don't want to end up in a dump. But if we're going to do this spur-of-the-moment trip, we HAVE to keep it inexpensive.

Any other recommendations?

Someone posted a VERY POOR review just a few days ago. I'll see if I can locate the thread. Sounds like a place to avoid.

Other budget places to consider:

Right up the street from Nikki Bird is the Econo Lodge Maingate Hawaiian. I've stayed there a couple of times and it is very good for the price.

On the other side of 192 is the Days Suites East Gate Old Town. We stayed there last year and were extremely surprised. We had a huge 1-bedroom suite for $39.95/nite. Its not the most modern of places, but a great value.

HI!

I am the 'party' that posted about the Nikki Bird. I got the rate off of Priceline for $28 / night. It did the job but I would never never stay there again. The staff smiles a lot but I think they are ordered to do so in order to cover up a lot more! Personally I would pay a little bit more and stay somewhere that is more reputable.... you will sleep better at night doing so. I hope that my stay was a fluke thing at this hotel.... I am just not going to stay there again to find out!

Best luck and have a great trip!

Jen H.

PS. We booked the HIFS for our next stay @$60/night

Yikes!! Thanks so much for your input! To think that I may have booked through Hotwire for this hotel - you guys are great! You saved me !! :)

Now.......back to the search for a decent hotel !!

One night was more than enough to stay at this he!!hole. The sink in my room wasn't even attached to the counter !!!!!!! God knows what the shower looked like. I refused to set foot in it and slept fully clothed.

No amount of money saved is worth staying here again.

I may be the only one but we really liked it. I read the review, though, and if we'd had a bloody shower curtain, and creepy drunks knocking on our window, I'm sure I would feel the same as you. I am a real stickler for a clean room and actually bought a RV so I can be sure I'm sleeping in a clean place. Our suite was spotless, and loved and generously tipped our housekeeper, and left her a positive review. We thought the lights in the kidsuites didn't work, but my sone found a hidden switch. I would love to go back, especially for $27.
