I stayed at the Holiday Inn Nikki Bird in March of 2004 after winning it on priceline for $28 a night. Anyhow, I really HATED it there. I thought even $28 a night was too much for this dump. I had never stayed in a bad Holiday Inn to that point. Since everyone has different expectations I'll point out a few of the facts that disgusted me--- but might not bother others.
---The carpets had numerous (more than a dozen) large crusty feeling black stains. They were a minimum of 3ft x 3ft each. To the touch they had that hard crusty feel.
---Our room window was caked w/ a film. It actually blocked the sun out quite nice, too bad it wasn't supposed to be there. It looked as though it was years of grime just built up, I'm not a forensic expert though so who exactly knows.
---All of the light fixtures were more than 70% rusted. Just not very attractive.
---We found 3 major tears in the bedding on 1 of the 2 beds in our room.
---The one pool (the Mickey Head pool) had a lot of debris and naked toddlers in it. The pool had a large amount of tree branches, food wrappers, and dirt in it every day.
Now aside from those which were just fact observations. The location was very close to Disney and many shops and restuarants. The bathroom and room did appear to be surface clean. Just not kept up, which gave it a really rundown shabby, flea bag motel feel and look. Last, we didn't see any bugs, and trust me I was looking.
