DH and I have never been to WDW during the holidays -- I think I've finally convinced him we should go for just a few days next year to see the decorations. I watched the program on Food Network last night and I was hooked...

Question is when do the decorations appear - Thanksgiving Day?? Also interested in when the Osbourn lights would be up and running.

Thanks for your help

We were there the weekend after Thanksgiving last year and everything was just beautiful!!!! And the 1st week of December was great in the parks..... Spent more time walking through the queue lines than many rides last, ie Space Mountain. I never realized how long that queue was until I had to walk it with out EVER stopping.

I am sure we wont be so lucky this year....

We were at WL in Nov. 2002 and the decorations went up around the 16th or so. Some of the resorts had them up that week, but really not much in the parks. I saw the special too, and I'd love to plan a trip for early December!

We were there the Sat before Thanksgiving in 2004. All the decorations were up and the Osborne Family lights opened the Wed before Thanksgiving.

That Food Channel Special sure is creating an interest in DVC at the holidays. After watching we were all dying to go again to see the decorations, so we're going Dec 17 - 21. Availability at OKW and cheap airfare made an early Christmas present for the family.

They go up very gradually all over the resort. On Nov. 1, the AKL Xmas tree was already up. The Magic Kingdom decorations went up overnight between Nov. 3 and 4, as I was at that park both days. I think Epcot decorations were up about a week later, but no hotel decorations were up yet at the Boardwalk Inn.

I have been going the second week in December for a while now and their is nothing like Disney putting you in the magical Christmas mood. It is my favorite time is Disney!!! Then when you come home your spirits stay high and you stay in Christmas spirit!!! 100% recommend going during this time.

Thanks everyone -- sounds like if we went anytime after Thanksgiving we would definitely see the sights. This is always a busy time for DH at work, but maybe I can convince him to go for a weekend.... if not, maybe I'll just have to go myself!!

HI,

We just came back on Wednesday the 30th... The decorations are phenominal and after Thanksgiving weekend the crowd slims down quite a bit. I took my DD out of school for 3 days, it was so worth seeing.

On Monday, we walked on Dinosaur in AK it said it was going to be a 30 min wait and 10 mins for ITTBAB, my DD & her friend went on Primevil Whirl 3 x's in a row.

Great time of year to visit. Had I known this 10 years ago it would have been the ONLY time I ever would go to WDW.

Have a great time planning.
