Holding your breath?

When you are reading some things here on the boards, like an update, do you hold your breath?

Or when you are having blood drawn do you hold your breath?

When else do you hold your breath?

When something hurts REAL bad I hold my breath. I don't know why, it surely doesn't make it feel better.

When the phone rings at 2:00 AM - I hold my breath

When my girls call out "MOM" in that voice that means I need you now - I hold my breath

When my oldest asks if she can ride her bike around the block - I hold my breath

When my husband says I need to talk to you - in his serious voice - I hold my breath

When my mom says "Lori, I need you to..." - I hold my breath

When my dad calls and says "Your mom is..." - I hold my breath

I used to, but the natural childbirth method I use (and teach) uses relaxation and slow breathing that imitates sleep. Now I make myself do that when I feel myself becoming tense, and it's actually much more effective.

Well, I had to hold my breath several times w/in the last two days ... yesterday during my CT scan (more than once) and today during my mammogram (more than once), bloodwork (again, more than once) and awaiting results of both CT and mammogram.

I am tired of holding my breath for medical tests!!!!

hmmmmm...I can't think of a time when I actuall hold my breath. consiously at least. sometimes I do, and I just don't think about it.

When my dd's exbf was in Iraq I remember so plainly holding my breath when I'd hear of more casualties with the 101st Airborne. I'd listen (or read) for the regiment, batt, and unit #'s. Sometimes it would take awhile to hear all the info and I'd notice I was holding my breath and make myself stop. I guess I instinctively felt that if I held my breath it would be quieter and I would hear better or something. I'm so glad those days are over.
