Holding Points Still Being Waived (Late June 2020)?

Are you sure, I was under the impression holding was still being waived!!

Today I did a chat with Todd, and holding has not been reinstated! I have a HHI reservation and I want to go if the numbers are good, and if I don’t have to quarantine upon returning home.

If points were in holding before the pandemic, they would still be in holding, barring a special case factor.

Okay..newby question. Can someone explain “holding” points to me?

Normally, if you cancel a trip less than 31 days from check in your points become holding points.

All points will now expire at the end of the UY of the trip and can only be booked for rooms 60 days or less from check in.

This prevents last minute cancellations. This year, they have taken that away temporarily. It can end at anytime.

Same here! We are REALLY wanting this trip to happen. I think we will take a chance at holding not being reinstated. If it happens, we have 60 points we will need to use by May 31, 2021. Hopefully, we would be able to get a HHI reservation in the spring 60 days out.

I have a VGC reservation for 9/30 and 10/1 with a waitlist for 10/2 and 10/3 (backup hotel room with cash). With no reopening announced, my friend and I were talking today when we should move to cancel. Supposedly it was said they could reopen with 10 days notice. I doubt that with the time it took WDW to reopen after State approval. Makes me nervous that they could suddenly reinstate holding. I may give it another week, that would be before the deadline.

I'm pretty sure points do not go into holding if you cancel even within 31 days. I had a reservation that was 28 days out, and member services told me I am fine if I cancel....

It is currently being waived and when you go to cancel, the message was changed to say that,

I assume one the reinstate it, they will change the message back!
